Space-themed Halloween Special “Solar Opposites” Gets Hulu Premiere Date & Synopsis

The news of a Halloween special for the popular Hulu cartoon series Solar Opposites came with the premiere of Season 3 in July. Now, Deadline reports that on October 3, viewers can tune in to Hulu for the exclusive streaming premiere of A Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special. Justin Roiland, creator of Rick & Morty, and Mike McMahan, a writer on the show, collaborated to develop Solar Opposites. The cartoon series depicts a family of four aliens disguised as humans on Earth. Watching them try to adapt to life on Earth with all of its fascinating and even terrifying peculiarities makes for hilarious entertainment.

Roiland, Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone, and Mary Mack provide their voices for the series. To now, the only thing fans know about the premise of this holiday special is the catchphrase, “Aliens’ existence can be eerie at times. A Halloween-themed performance by the Solar Opposites!” However, avid viewers can make educated estimates based on the show’s reputation. The series’ Christmas special, “A Very Solar Holiday Opposites Special,” aired last year. The aliens in the presentation were introduced to Christmas for the first time and then showed their own particular, funny take on the holiday.

If the first three seasons are any indication, these aliens still have a lot to learn about Earth’s culture and customs, and thus it stands to reason that the Halloween special will follow suit. Interestingly, this isn’t Roiland’s only Halloween-themed Hulu original this year. The Paloni Show premieres on Hulu on October 17! One-Time Only! The Paloni family, who are set on starting their own comedic variety show, will be the focus of this animated special. It’s a revamp of an idea Roiland first pitched to FOX in 2009 before his career took off. Roiland plans to feature “emerging animators and their frightening flicks” in the Halloween special.

Roiland, McMahan, and Josh Bycel (who have produced shows including Scrubs, Psych, and The Big Show Show) serve as executive producers for Solar Opposites. The release date for Solar Opposites Season 4 is set for 2023. An unannounced Christmas special for Season 4 of Solar Opposites has already been set, and the announcement of this Halloween episode included hints that additional holiday episodes were on the way. On October 3, you may watch the Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special only on Hulu.
