The stars are aligning for a new comedy-thriller coming out shortly. Samara Weaving, Eric Dane, and Ray Nicholson will headline the next Borderline, with Alba Baptista and Jimmie Fails also playing key roles in the film. The specifics of their respective characteristics are now being withheld from public view. The protagonist of the comic thriller is a psychopath who, despite his self-described hopelessness, manages to get out of a mental facility. Having fled, he next goes to the house of a ’90s pop singer (Weaving), whose only purpose at this point is to stay alive.
The anonymous psychopath, meantime, is hoping for a relationship. Even though we don’t know much about the film’s narrative at this point, Borderline’s cast makes us want to see what happens. For the past several years, Weaving has been in a wide variety of films, from comedies to thrillers. Weaving has appeared in several horror films, including Ready or Not and The Babysitter: Killer Queen, all of which are available on Netflix. As of late, you may catch her on Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers or watch her in the romantic comedy The Valet.
The next year or two will be busy for Weaving, as she will appear in many high-profile films including Scream 6 and Babylon. Perhaps Dane’s most recognisable role is that of Dr. McSteamy (aka Mark Sloan) on the long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. He then went on to star in The Last Ship and, most recently, Euphoria after leaving the show. National Anthem and Dangerous Waters are forthcoming works by him. Panic, available on Prime Video, is just one of Nicholson’s own thrillers.
His other film credits include Licorice Pizza and his upcoming appearance in Something About Tiffany’s promises to be just as impressive. Borderline is Jimmy Warden’s first feature film as both writer and director. LuckyChap Entertainment and Productivity Media produced the segment. The feature is being produced by Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap, with Bronte Payne serving as a co-producer. Hadeel Reda and Brian Duffield of Red A Entertainment serve as producers, with Denise Loren working alongside them. Colleen Camp, William G. Santor, Andrew Chang-Sang, and John Hills of Productivity Media Inc, Shawn Williamson and Jameson Parker of Brightlight Pictures, and Mimi Steinbauer of Radiant Films International served as executive producers.
When asked about the casting in Borderline, Steinbauer commented: “Our partners at LuckyChap have produced some of the most critically acclaimed and financially successful female-led films of the last five years, including “I, Tonya” and “Promising Young Woman,” so we’re thrilled to be working with them on this exciting new project. Jimmy’s razor-sharp, edge-of-your-seat comedic-thriller is in good hands with Samara, Dane, and Ray.”
The premiere date for Borderline has not been set, but filming has already begun.
