“Top Gun: Maverick” has moved into top five of all time for domestic box office earnings

Top Gun: Maverick, released at the end of summer, has become the highest-grossing domestic picture of all time, moving it into fifth place. The movie has already established itself as the highest-grossing film of 2022 and Tom Cruise’s career. Audiences are feeling the need for speed & returning to see this high-octane, feel-good sequel that hits the core of what moviegoers want to see after knocking Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War off the top place at the box office last month. After 15 weeks in theatres, Top Gun: Maverick will have earned over $1.44 billion worldwide from ticket sales and merchandise. This is an unprecedented amount for a movie that has been accessible to stream online since its first release, and it is a monument to the success of this legendary sequel.

Top Gun: Maverick is also the first movie to ever debut at number one on both the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend domestic box office charts. Paramount Pictures President and CEO Brian Robbins reacted to the record-breaking numbers by saying, “Top Gun: Maverick is without a doubt, a real cultural landmark representing the power of the cinematic experience.” Top Gun has had a profound effect on people all over the world, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the film’s star, Tom Cruise, as well as the other members of the creative team, the marketing and distribution teams at Paramount, and the countless moviegoers, both new and old, who have helped make the film a success. In Top Gun: Maverick, directed by Joseph Kosinski, Cruise reprises the role of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell whom he created in the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun.

To teach a new batch of graduates, including Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), son of his late comrade “Goose,” Maverick returns to TOPGUN more than 30 years after the tragedy of the previous film. The film’s skyrocketing popularity can be attributed in no little part to the thrilling stunts and action it features and the positive message it sends to audiences throughout the world. Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Danny Ramirez, Jay Ellis, Greg Tarzan Davis, Jennifer Connelly, Lewis Pullman, Jon Hamm, and Val Kilmer return as “Iceman” in Top Gun: Maverick, which also stars Tom Cruise and Miles Teller.

Now is a great time to see Top Gun: Maverick in theatres or on demand. Pre-orders for the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release started October 29 and will continue through November 1. You’re ready to relive the film’s splendour, right?
