The Mysterious Benedict Society has resumed classes, although there is no actual school taking place. In order to save Nicholas Benedict (also played by Tony Hale), the world’s brightest young minds will have to work together once more when they infiltrate the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened (L.I.V.E.) and learn of Ledroptha Curtain’s (Tony Hale) plot to reign over all humanity. The second season’s teaser and release date in late October were announced today by Disney+. This trailer shows that There is still a long way to go before the Mysterious Benedict Society can stop Mr Curtain from being a megalomaniac.
Since a bunch of children have uncovered his big plot, the evil doppelganger of Mr Benedict will likely announce his mind-invading paraphernalia and try to market it to the world as a gadget that can generate bliss. His latest scheme includes kidnapping his brother, who is taken by surprise. In keeping with his secretive nature, Mr Benedict has given the children a series of puzzles that, once solved, may provide clues as to the location of his captivity. The youngsters get together to investigate, but they quickly realise that Mr Curtain plans to abduct them as well, as they have shown to be his only formidable opponents.
Bestselling novelist Trenton Lee Stewart adapted his novel series The Mysterious Benedict Society into a hit Netflix series. Following the same structure as the books, the Disney+ series would need to run for four seasons to complete the plot. Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, who also co-wrote Flux (2005), Clash of the Titans (2010), and The Invitation (2015), came up with the idea for the series. Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin, who have previously collaborated on shows including Smallville, No Ordinary Family, Alphas, and Shadowhunters, are the showrunners for The Mysterious Benedict Society. Other cast members include Kristen Schaal as Number Two, MaameYaa Boafo as Rhonda Kazembe, Ryan Hurst as Milligan, Gia Sandhu as Ms Perumal, Seth B. Carr as George “Sticky” Washington, Emmy DeOliveira as Kate Wetherall, Mystic Inscho as Reynie Muldoon, and Marta Kessler as Constance Contraire. On October 26, Disney+ will debut the first two episodes of Season 2 of The Mysterious Benedict Society.
Synopsis
Mr Benedict and Number Two have been kidnapped, and the kids must use the clues and riddles they find in a dangerous scavenger quest he has set up for them in order to stop Curtain’s newest plot. This endearing band of misfits travels the world by air, land, sea, and pie truck, using only their wits, intelligence, and empathy to solve mysteries and save their missing friends. The youngsters learn to navigate their new “found family” while still holding onto their own identities. They learn the meaning of life and find great joy in the process.
