Home to Roost is a new reality show that will feature Ozzy Osbourne and his family. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, accompanied by their children Jack and Kelly, will be the subjects of a new British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) series that will document the family’s relocation from Los Angeles to rural Buckinghamshire, England. In addition to their move back to Britain and the arrival of Kelly’s baby, the series will also document the celebration of Sharon’s 70th birthday. Home to Roost will include 10 episodes, each one lasting 30 minutes, and will air on BBC One and the iPlayer.
American fans of the famous family should expect to see the programme land in the U.S. at some time following its U.K. premiere since worldwide distribution is being handled by Banijay Rights. BBC Head of Documentary Commissioning Clare Sillery requested the production of Home to Roost. The new show’s executive producers are Ben Wicks, Colin Barr, and Louisa McKay.
In a recent statement, Sillery said, “I’m happy that the Osbournes will be sharing this next chapter of their lives with BBC viewers in what promises to be an amusing, touching, and honest peek into their new life in the U.K.” The events of Home to Roost occur 20 years after the Osbourne family first left the United Kingdom to shoot The Osbournes on MTV. Beginning in March of 2002, The Osbournes quickly rose to prominence as one of MTV’s most popular original series in the channel’s history. After four seasons and an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program in 2002, the show ended in 2005. Reality television was given a major boost by The Osbournes, which also catapulted the careers of Sharon, Kelly, and Jack Osbourne and inspired a new generation of stars.
After Ozzy Osbourne’s success with his reality programme, several other rock stars followed suit, notably Gene Simmons of Kiss with Gene Simmons Family Jewels and Bret Michaels of Poison with Rock of Love. In the 1970s, Ozzy Osbourne rose to prominence as the frontman for the metal band Black Sabbath. The “Crazy Train” vocalist had a prosperous solo career as well, with many Platinum-certified albums and the moniker “Godfather of Metal.” Sharon Osbourne rose to fame after marrying Ozzy in 1982.
She had previously worked as his manager. After the initial run of The Osbournes concluded, Ozzy Osbourne and his son Jack went on to feature in their own reality programme, Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour, which aired on MTV from 2016 to 2018. There is currently no official release date for Home to Roost.
