The highly anticipated Yellowstone prequel 1923 is now filming in Montana, and according to an exclusive scoop from Deadline, actor Sebastian Roché (A Walk Among the Tombstones) has joined the set in an unspecified role. The series also stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, both of whom have yet to be revealed in their respective roles. There are rumours that the series would focus on a new generation of the Dutton family in the 20th century, at a time of upheaval; however, no further details have been provided.
As the premiere date of the series, somewhere in December on Paramount+, approaches, more details will become available. Season 5 of Yellowstone will premiere on the Paramount Network on November 13, just in time for fans to catch up with the Duttons before the release of 1923. The six-hour miniseries 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, based on the life of the real-life figure Bass Reeves and starring David Oyelowo (Selma), is also in the works for the franchise. Starring Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves) and produced by Taylor Sheridan, the first season of Yellowstone premiered in 2018 and was an instant smash with fans. Due to the series’s success, a prequel named 1883 debuted in December 2017 to rave reviews.
The Sam Elliott-led show was a prequel that explained how the Dutton family came to possess the property that would become the world-famous Yellowstone Ranch. With a new prequel series on the horizon, fans of the franchise will be able to examine the Dutton family and the ranch through the eyes of several generations as they endure trials at the hands of the ranch’s owners. Cabinet of Curiosities is a horror series created by Guillermo del Toro, and it will star Roché, who has starred in such popular shows as The Young Pope and The Man in the High Castle.
