What We Do in the Shadows on FX has been a reassuring and funny roller coaster ever since it first premiered. The show’s main protagonists have had quite an adventure thus far in the fourth season, what with the vampire kids, the thriving company, and the badly rundown house. Nandor (Kayvan Novak) has found a wife this season, and Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) is in a relationship of his own, but not with each other.
There has been some romance (some of it dubious) (yet). Fans of “Nandermo” are anxious to learn more about the show’s future, and creators Novak and Guillén provide some details in advance of the Season 4 finale. Insider information from Novak, Guillén, producer/writer Sarah Naftalis, and executive producer/writer Sam Johnson is included in the new featurette, which is a combination of the current season and interview video. The group discusses Nandor’s and Guillermo’s romantic history thus far, providing some introspective insight into the two protagonists’ distinct paths.
The interaction between Nandor and Guillermo is also discussed. Guillén expresses his eagerness for the approaching fifth season by referencing the increasing “will they, won’t they?” suspense. The season six episode “The Wedding” makes the idea of Nandermo occurring appear much more likely. It follows Nandor as he goes through the emotional wringer leading up to and during his wedding. With his remaining wishes from the Djinn, he asks that Marwa approve of whatever he does. Undeniably, it achieves its intended results (maybe a little too well, as Nandor grows weary of this in the following episodes).
The episode ends with Marwa showing nothing but eternal love for Guillermo, and viewers got a glimpse inside Nandor’s heart in the process. Nandor is aware of the negative aspects of his relationship with Marwa, but he still refuses to admit that Guillermo is present. In the meanwhile, Guillermo’s significance in Nandor’s life has grown as the show has progressed. Initially, he was only Nandor’s familiar, and his only wish was to become a vampire. Although this has not occurred, Guillermo still feels some degree of fondness for the vampires he has lived with for so long, despite the many problems that Nandor and the others have created. In the eighth episode of this season, not long after Guillermo came out to his family, his boyfriend was exposed.
You discover that he’s been seeing a guy named Freddie, and at first glance, it looks like a great match for Guillermo, but then you find out that Nandor wants to make Marwa a carbon duplicate of Freddie. Nandor’s activities create a chasm between him and Guillermo, who is saddened by Nandor’s behaviour. Even Nandor feels a little bad about what he’s done, but none of them realises the full gravity of the situation. There is time to take a look at where Nandermo is going this season since there is one episode left. In addition, the show’s two-season renewal gives fans plenty of optimism for the show’s future. How close are we to having Nandor and Guillermo finally understand one other? Will they finally recognise their four-season-long feud? The future has the answer. On Tuesday, September 6th, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX, the season four conclusion of What We Do in the Shadows will premiere.
