Regan Aliyah, who starred in the Netflix series XO, Kitty, has allegedly been cast in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series Ironheart. She will feature alongside Dominique Thorne (Judas and the Black Messiah), who will play the title character. Deadline claims that Aliyah has joined the team in an unnamed capacity. She rose to prominence after starring as Julia in XO, Kitty, a spinoff of To All The Boys I Loved Before also available on Netflix.
She had previously participated in a handful of episodes of the TV miniseries Club Mickey Mouse before making her debut in that series. Thorne, Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Manny Montana (Good Girls), Lyric Ross (This Is Us), Harper Anthony, Alden Ehrenreich, Zoe Terakes, and Shea CoulĂ©e (winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race) were already revealed as part of the cast. The character of Ironheart debuted in 2016 as part of the Invincible Iron Man comics, and the new series will follow the narrative of Riri Williams (Thorne), a 15-year-old prodigy who is able to design her own Iron Man suit and sees herself becoming the eponymous hero. Most of the announced cast members, including Aliyah, have had their roles kept secret, with the exception of Ross, who will play Williams’ best buddy.
Showrunner and co-writer Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer) will join Eve Ewing on Ironheart. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes will helm the six-episode series, which will be co-produced by Ryan Coogler’s Proximity. Aside from Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout of Marvel Studios, the show will be exec produced by Ryan and Zinzi Coogler, Hodge, and Sev Ohanian. Phase 5 of the MCU, which includes Ironheart and is planned to begin with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania on February 17, 2023, was first revealed in December 2020.
Secret Invasion, a Disney+ miniseries, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, directed by James Gunn, and Loki, Season 2, are just a few of the other projects that will be a part of this period. As of now, we know that Disney+ will debut the Ironheart series sometime in the latter half of 2023. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, in which Thorne will make her first appearance as the title character, opens in cinemas on November 11.
