Summit Fever, a new thriller from Saban Films starring Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Thorp as mountaineers whose devotion might prove catastrophic, has a brand new teaser. Summit Fever, a promised adrenaline-filled thriller, is set against the icy backdrop of one of the most perilous mountains in the world. The video opens with a tragic death of a climber. The climber’s death is said to be linked to the fact that he was pushed by his sponsors to undertake increasingly risky stunts in order to increase the amount of money they made from his performances. Despite the tragedy’s intended role as a warning, it will inspire two friends (Philippe and Thorp) to climb one of the world’s deadliest mountains together, braving the elements and defying gravity in an attempt to reach the peak.
The teaser suggests that the film will examine the thin line between dedication and obsession as it follows three friends as they risk everything to realise their aspirations. In Chamonix, France, a short distance from Mont Blanc, Europe’s tallest peak, Summit Fever was filmed. The mountainous setting contributes to the film’s visual appeal, as the suspenseful plot makes extensive use of Mont Blanc’s jagged peaks and ski stations to convey the inherent dangers of an unprepared alpine ascent.
The ascent to the peak is dangerous enough on a clear day, but the two companions will have to contend with the wrath of Mother Nature in the form of an unexpected storm. Producer/director Julian Gilbey has a long resume that includes thrillers like A Lonely Place to Die and Rise of the Footsoldier, and he uses that expertise in making Summit Fever. Michel Biel, Mathilde Warnier, Hannah New, and Theo Christine also star in the film.
On October 14, Summit Fever will premiere in select theatres, digital platforms, and video-on-demand services. An ambitious alpine trek turns into a spectacular fight for survival in this action-packed thrill adventure starring Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Thorp. When a fatal storm confines a group of friends near the peak of the world’s most difficult trio of mountains, the climbers’ once-brave dream quickly transforms into a horrific nightmare. The group must rely on one another to survive against all odds.
