Netflix released some intriguing news regarding its forthcoming show The Pain Hustlers. Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place) and Chris Evans (Captain America) are the two biggest names in the cast, but they’ve just been joined by five more big names (The Gray Man). The protagonist in this tale is a blue-collar worker who, after losing her job and falling into poverty while trying to support her kid, chooses to take a position with a failed pharmaceutical startup business, where she quickly becomes embroiled in a potentially deadly racketeering plan. Andy Garcia, who has been nominated for an Oscar, was the first actor to be brought on board. Acclaimed films in which he appeared include The Godfather III and Dead Again, and he was also a member of the ensemble casts for the successful heist thrillers Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve.
Most recently, Garcia has been seen in the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again sequel and the HBO Max adaptation of Father of the Bride. Catherine O’Hara, a two-time Emmy Award winner, will also be joining The Pain Hustlers. Canadian actor best known for playing Macaulay Culkin’s mom in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and for voicing beloved character Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas, a stop-motion animated film. Recently, O’Hara’s abilities have been recognised once more for her role as Moira Rose in the critically acclaimed television series Schitt’s Creek. New cast members include Chloe Coleman, Jay Duplass, and Brian d’Arcy James.
The trio of Coleman, Duplass, and d’Arcy James rose to fame thanks to their roles in the critically acclaimed films 13 Reasons Why, Industry on HBO Max, and The Chair on Netflix, respectively. It has been six years since David Yates directed a picture not part of the Fantastic Beasts series, and The Pain Hustlers will be his first. The director first entered the Wizarding World with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and has since helmed all of the Potter films. Wells Tower, who is adapting Evan Hughes’s best-selling book The Hard Sell: Crime and Punishment at an Opioid Startup, wrote the script for his next film.
Netflix has not yet announced any other information on The Pain Hustlers, including the film’s full cast or its anticipated premiere date.
