Showcasing the talents of Dolph Lundgren, Ryan Kwanten, and Scott Adkins, AMC has unveiled a brand new, intense, and action-packed teaser for their upcoming drama, Section 8. As shown in the latest teaser, ex-special forces soldier Jake (Kwanten) gets released from prison since “the two people he loved the most are gone.” Section 8, a shadowy group authorised to “remove any dangers, wherever in the globe,” recruits him. In the roughly two-minute preview, we see the crew of assassins carrying out a variety of tasks, one of which involves the murder of a senator.
Conflict in the plot is set up when Jake discovers the underground group isn’t what it seems. Jake is serving time for the death of his wife and children, but he feels no remorse for his actions, and Dermot Mulroney’s character, Sam Ramsey, seems keen to recruit him for the secret organisation. Tom Mason, played by Lundgren, is Jake’s old commanding officer and a friend who is helping him sort things out.
The teaser also reveals that Jake can only escape by immersing himself further in the struggle and ultimately betraying the people he has been working with up to this point. Mickey Rourke, Jessica Medina, Tracy Perez, Robert LaSardo Maurice Compte, Geoffrey Blake, Paul Sloan, Mary Christina Brown, and a slew of others appear in this action film directed by Christian Sesma (Vigilante Diaries, Take Back). Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld also makes his big screen debut in this picture. The film is directed by Sesma and was written by Chad Law (The Hit List, Black Water) and Josh Ridgway (The Sector, Howlers).
Section 8 is the sixth film that Lundgren and Adkins have worked on together, following The Expendables 2, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, Legendary, and Castle Falls. For his part, Dolph Lundgren has upcoming roles in films like Operation Seawolf and The Expandable 4, as well as the upcoming Come Out Fighting, while Scott Adkins is set to appear in movies like Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday and John Wick 4 with Kean Reeves. The Kindred actor Kwanten will also appear in the next film The Portrait. On September 23rd, the film Section 8 will be released in cinemas and on AMC+.
