Although Love is Blind, season 2 of Netflix’s smash reality dating programme, wrapped up back in February, we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to the couples just yet. You can see what the Pod Squad has been up to since last season’s filming and their eventual reunion in the teaser for After the Altar, which premieres on April 5. As with last year’s episode, there is enough of turmoil to counteract the lighter moments between the former pod mates and their present partners. Along with the video, a release date was announced: September 16 for streaming on Netflix. Season 2 of Love is Blind: After the Altar will focus mostly on Nick and Danielle and Jarrette and Iyana, the two couples that actually were married before the conclusion of the season.
They appear to be doing well as a married couple outside of the programme, with Nick even giving marriage guidance to his Pod Squad colleagues. Marital difficulties appear to be more substantial for Jarrette and Iyana. By sharing her problems with the other candidates, Iyana questions Jarrette’s maturity. There are strong indications that they won’t last as a pair, but a trip to see their former pod mates could be just what they need. The remainder of the Pod Squad will use this special as the last chance to reflect on what they’ve learned and where they stand in the wake of the experiment.
The teaser suggests that old flames may be reignited when many of the pod mates reconnect with former flames or find new romantic interests. However, given that this is reality TV, a reunion will likely result in the reigniting of old grudges, providing a final dose of drama before a new Pod Squad is introduced. Love is Blind: After the Altar Season, 2 concludes with three new episodes, each clocking in at 45 minutes, much like the first season did. The Kinetic Content production has Chris Coelen, Ally Simpson, Eric Detwiler, and Kimberly Goodman on board as executive producers. Since the first season of the Love is Blind franchise launched on Netflix in 2020, the show has consistently performed well in the reality television ratings.
There have been some complaints about the idea, but overall, it’s one of the streamer’s most-watched shows. The dating competition topped Netflix’s list of most-watched shows in the week after the season finale dropped, leading to the decision to order a second season. The show’s continued popularity has resulted in a three-season renewal earlier this year and adaptations in Brazil and Japan. Beginning September 16th, you can watch Season 2 of Love is Blind: After the Altar on Netflix.
