While many of Disney’s plans for forthcoming projects were announced at San Diego Comic-Con, other details were held back for the upcoming D23 expo and the Disney+ day, both of which have fans very excited. In addition, to sneak peeks at MCU and SW films, the streaming service has promised more world premieres in September. The new releases include MCU’s recent movie Thor: Love and Thunder and Assembled: The Making of Thor: The Movie, which offers an inside look at the production of the Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman-led film. Assembled, an anthology series produced by Marvel Studios gives viewers an inside look at the production process by following the actors and filmmakers as they work. Thor: Love and Thunder, the documentary on the making of the film, will have lengthy discussions with director Taika Waititi, actors Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Tessa Thompson, all of whom will break the beans on various parts of making the colourful Thor sequel.
Rough, previously unseen videos from the set and beyond will also be included in the docuseries. In addition, Disney+ now offers IMAX Enhanced streaming of fifteen additional MCU films, including Thor: Love and Thunder. Inspired by Jason Aaron’s writing, Love and Thunder are set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, with Portman playing the Mighty Thor and teaming up with Hemsworth’s Thor to stop Bale’s Gorr, the God Butcher, from carrying out his plan to destroy all the gods. Along for the ride are CGI stone man Korg (voiced by Waititi) and Thompson’s Valkyrie. Zeus (Russel Crowe) and Hercules (Brett Goldstein) make their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debuts in this film; Heimdall (Idris Elba) and Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander) also return.
Waititi’s signature humorous tone shines through in this film, which is lauded for its portrayal of the protagonist’s growth. It’s also Bale’s first superhero film since he starred in the Dark Knight trilogy. With $737 million earned throughout the world, the film ranks as the sixth highest-earning movie of 2022. On September 8th, the documentary Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder will have its world debut.
Synopsis
The God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on a voyage of self-discovery in the new Marvel Studios film “Thor: Love and Thunder.” But his work is thwarted by Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, a space-faring murderer on a mission to wipe out the divine. Thor enlists the aid of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who, to Thor’s consternation, for some reason wields Mjolnir, his mystical hammer, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they set forth on a perilous intergalactic journey to solve the puzzle of the God Butcher’s revenge and put a stop to him before it’s too late.
