Milo Ventimiglia, who starred in the NBC series This Is Us until its cancellation in May, has already found his next acting gig. The Company You Keep, starring Ventimiglia as a con artist named Charlie who falls in love with a CIA Agent, has been ordered up to series by ABC. Writers have apparently begun working on the series, which is scheduled to debut on ABC in 2023. Actor Milo Ventimiglia, who has been nominated for an Emmy for his work on the hit NBC series This Is Us, has risen to prominence in recent years thanks to his performance as the show’s protagonist. Fans of the actor may also know him from his previous performances on popular shows like Gilmore Girls and Heroes.
In addition to his role as Rocky Balboa’s son in Rocky Balboa and Creed II, Ventimiglia has appeared in The Art of Racing in the Rain and as a guest character on The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. The American show The Company You Keep is based on a Korean drama airing in 2019. Starting off the series, Charlie (Ventimiglia) and Emma (Catherine Haena Kim), a covert CIA operative, have “a night of passion” and fall in love. Charlie is trying to break out of the “family business,” while Emma is trying to get a criminal to whom Charlie’s family owes a substantial sum of money. Among Kim’s past acting credits are roles in Ballers, FBI, and Good Trouble.
William Fichtner, known for films like Armeggedon, and Sarah Wayne Callies, known for her roles on The Walking Dead and Prison Break, will join Milo Ventimiglia and Claudia Kim in the series. Tim Chiou, Freda Foh Shen, James Saito, Felisha Terrell, and Polly Draper round up the rest of the ensemble cast. On The Company You Keep, Julia Cohen and Phil Klemmer will be working together as showrunners. The TV programmes Quantico and A Million Little Things both included Cohen’s past work. The critically acclaimed television show DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was conceived by Klemmer, who also acted as the show’s showrunner.
Together with Ventimiglia, Russ Cundiff, Jon M. Chu, Caitlin Foito, Todd Harthan and Lindsay Goffman, the duo will serve as executive producers on the show. The role of producer will be filled by Deanna Harris. Cohen wrote and directed Ben Younger (Bleed For This) in the pilot episode of The Company You Keep.
