The Cast of ‘Suncoast’ Includes Laura Linney, Woody Harrelson, and Nico Parker, Synopsis, Cast & Release Date

Suncoast, which will mark Laura Chinn’s directing and writing debut, will star Woody Harrelson, Laura Linney, and Nico Parker, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. This September, production may finally begin on the Searchlight Pictures drama that made it to the 2020 Black List. The story of the film, which was based on Chinn’s own life in the 2000s, centres on an adolescent and her independent mother, who, due to unforeseen circumstances, must send the girl’s brother to live in a specialist facility.

There, amid demonstrations over questionable medical practices, she unexpectedly befriends a radical activist. Parker will assume the role of the young adolescent. Harrelson will portray the activist, while Laura Linney will play her mother. The Pop TV comedy Florida Girls, written by actress-turned-screenwriter Chinn, is based on her own life and follows four ladies as they make their way through life in a trailer park in Florida. Season 2 was cancelled in 2020 along with a number of other Pop originals despite positive reviews.

Chinn has assembled a formidable cast for Suncoast, and given the success of the Florida Girls, this should be an intense drama. Harrelson has been nominated for an Oscar three times and acted in the most current film to do so, Triangle of Sadness, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was awarded the Palme d’Or. He co-starred as a Marvel bad guy with Tom Hardy in Sony’s Venom: Let there be Carnage and starred opposite Kevin Hart in the action movie The Man From Toronto.

Most recently, Linney co-starred with Jason Bateman in the Netflix criminal drama Ozark, for which she was nominated for four Emmys. She has been nominated for three Oscars: for the Searchlight films The Savages and Kinsey, and for the Kenneth Lonergan film You Can Count on Me. Alongside Micheal Keaton and Colin Farrell, Parker made her acting debut in Dumbo. Recent roles include HBO Max’s Reminiscence, and she’ll soon be joining Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us, a streaming series based on the hit video game.

Oly Obst, Kevin Chinoy, Francesca Silvestri, and Jeremy Plager are the film’s producers. Searchlight’s Daniel Yu, manager of creative affairs, and senior vice president of production Taylor Friedman will be in charge of the project.
Suncoast has yet to be given a release date.
