According to Deadline, Neve Campbell has been cast as the main character in ABC’s upcoming drama series Avalon. Campbell, novelist Michael Connelly, executive producer Ross Fineman, and series creator and executive producer David E. Kelley (Big Sky, Big Little Lies) are working together for the second time on a project of this nature. The series adapted from a short tale by Connelly, centres on Nic Searcy, the sheriff of the fictional California town of Avalon and a former LAPD detective with a rock-solid moral compass. Catalina Island’s little community may seem serene at first glance, but a visitor might easily disrupt the locals’ routine.
Sheriff Searcy’s assumptions about both Avalon and herself will be challenged by this unexpected presence as she sets out to unravel a mystery. Campbell’s work in scary movies is what made her famous. Almost everyone recognises her as Sidney Prescott, the protagonist’s ultimate love interest, from the original Scream and its sequels. In 1996’s The Craft, she had a pivotal part as Bonnie Harper, a wounded teenager who discovers her witchcraft abilities. She has also frequently appeared in popular TV programmes as a guest star, including Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, and Welcome to Sweden.
Her performance in House of Cards as Texas political strategist LeAnn Harvey earned her acclaim from critics. As of June 2022, it was confirmed that the actress will not be returning to the Scream series. Campbell has worked on additional projects with Kelley and Connelly, such as The Lincoln Lawyer, which was produced by Netflix, Fineman, and A+E Studios. For season two, she will reprise her role as a series regular. Kelley will not only act as the show’s executive producer but also as the pilot episode’s writer. Co-executive producing with Fineman, who is representing Fineman Entertainment, will be Dana Calvo.
A+E Studios’ Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson are among the show’s executive producers. The firm is collaborating with 20th Television on the production of the show. An interview with Campbell, Courteney Cox, and Melissa Barrera about the newest Scream flick was possible earlier this year. Campbell and Cox talked about working with Wes Craven on the first four Scream movies, as well as their experiences with filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett on the fifth instalment, among other topics.
