In other news, production on Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls has concluded! Creator and showrunner Justin Noble originally announced the development with a clip posted on Instagram. Soon, the rest of the cast and crew caught on, spreading the news of yet another successful shoot. At the close of 2017, the first season of The Sex Lives of College Girls debuted. Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott), Bela (Amrit Kaur), and Leighton (ReneƩ Rapp) are four friends and roommates at New England Essex College.
The freshmen ladies have a difficult time adjusting to life at Essex in many ways, including academically, socially, and personally. The storyline for Season 2 is still under wraps, however, there were some loose ends from Season 1 that might be picked up in the next season. Since we last saw the roommates, they have individually faced challenges and triumphed over them. Kimberly, a bright student in every other way, first ran into trouble for attempting to cheat on an exam. She wasn’t expelled after all, but her scholarship was taken away, leaving her family in just as precarious a position.
But Bela’s main hobby is about to take a surprising and thrilling new turn. Following her departure from The Catullan, Evangeline approaches Bela with the idea of opening a comedy club for women. While this is going on, Whitney and Leighton are able to release some significant emotional weight. To begin, Leighton is heartbroken following a difficult breakup with Alicia. Kimberly provides whatever solace she can, and Leighton eventually comes out, which is liberating even if just for him.
Also, Whitney tells her mom about her romance with Dalton. Throughout the season, Whitney had a hard time talking to her mom. Because of this, the two of them were able to have a wonderful breakthrough and a new beginning in their relationship. Noble and Mindy Kaling co-created The Sex Lives of College Girls (Never Have I Ever, The Mindy Project). Ilia Isorel’s Paulino, Renika Williams, Midori Francis, Christopher Meyer, Lauren “Lolo” Spencer, and Sierra Katow also appear often.
Some cast members have changed places this season as well, with Gavin Leatherwood leaving and Mitchell Slaggert arriving in an as-yet-unknown capacity. Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s Head of Original Content, has already spoken about her anticipation for Season 2:
“The sitcom that Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble have conceived and written is full of emotion, female friendships, and embarrassingly claustrophobic nude parties. We’re overjoyed that this hilariously forthright depiction of the college experience has struck a chord with everyone, sex experience or not. We’re excited to see what comes next for these interesting, multifaceted, and yet approachable individuals.” There is currently no set date for the premiere of Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls.
