It has also been proven that the genuine magic of Lucius is distinct from the Time Magic used by Julius. Tabata, the manga’s author, has provided readers with numerous crucial parts of the final act after a two-week pause, most of which were significantly foreshadowed in prior arcs. Particular attention has been drawn to the changes in Lucius’ appearance and Asta’s injury. Assuming the spoilers for Black Clover chapter 334, “Fragile Souls,” are accurate, Asta is in a desperate situation.

Chapter 334 of Black Clover opens with a fight between Asta and Lucius Zogratis. In the intervening period of time, Asta must have learned how to maintain his demonic Union for 10 minutes. If you ask Lucius, Asta’s existence is a real pain in the neck. The narrator explains that while everything eventually succumbs to the ravages of time and deterioration, the use of Anti Magic can counteract this inevitable process. Lucius states that despite being born into a family of Devil Hosts, he eventually learnt to employ magic to cleanse the Devils’ power and show humanity in its purest form.
Lucius takes on a Seraphic appearance, complete with a magnificent rack of antlers and four or six white wings. Even the shape of his grimoire shifts. From what we can gather from chapter 334 spoilers of Black Clover, Lucius refers to this shape as the “real human form.” His face and lower legs are especially covered with tattoos. Neither Lucius nor his Ki resembles a human or a Devil anymore, and this has Asta perplexed. Sister Lily is Lucius’s next victim, and he suspends her in midair. After much speculation, Lucius finally reveals that his actual power is Soul Magic, which enables him to alter the very essence of anybody he comes into contact with.
The word Lucius employs might more correctly be translated as Spirit Magic, as souls are the wellspring of human life and magic. It’s not the same as the ones Yuno and Noelle use, though. Before Asta and Sister Lily are transformed, they scream to each other out of fear. She, too, undergoes the transformation, becoming a Seraphic entity with feathered wings and a winged face. After undergoing her metamorphosis, Sister Lily tells Asta with a calm and emotionless demeanour that he must die for the cause of world peace. Lucius sweeps his hand and cuts the boy across his chest as Asta tries to save her. He sees the two heavenly beings waving goodbye to him as he plummets to Earth.
Speculations
Since Lucius and Julius were born as two souls in one body, it stands to reason that they would each have their own unique brand of magic. It has long been assumed by fans that Lucius’ actual magic was Soul Magic. Black Clover 334 confirms that Lucius can use three types of magic: Gravity Magic from Lucifero, Time Magic from Julius, and Soul Magic from himself. Lucius’s reincarnated form now has antlers. Former Gray Deers captain Julius Novachrono designed the squad’s flag, which features a deer with elaborate antlers. Rill now leads the squad as the Aqua Deers. In retrospect, many readers see this as a clue.
Sister Lily’s change isn’t something she could have prevented, but the person she’s become as a result is disheartening to Asta. Despite Lucius’s boastful idealism, this new shape is probably not the “real human form,” as he defines it. Nothing about the specifics of this change has been revealed. Considering the series’ notorious track record of miraculously healing extremely serious wounds, Asta should be able to survive the cut on his chest, as seen in the raw scans of Black Clover chapter 334.
But Asta is outclassed in combat, emotionally spent, and alone. In the meantime, the Magic Knights Squad Captains are still in the Royal Capital, and Noelle, Nero, and Mimosa are close by and able to assist. There’s no denying that Yuno’s absence at this crucial period stands out, but maybe Tabata will provide his readers with a good reason for it shortly.
