As of late, S. Epatha Merkerson and Judith Light have joined the long list of performers cast in Peacock’s new murder-mystery series, Poker Face. Adding to the already impressive roster of actors and actresses—which includes Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jameela Jamil, Tim Meadows, and Russian Doll’s Natasha Lyonne as the series lead—Variety reported that Nick Nolte, Tim Blake Nelson, Ron Perlman, and Charles Melton have all joined the cast of Rian Johnson’s upcoming Peacock show. Their Poker Face characters have yet to be revealed, but Lyonne will reportedly investigate a new crime in each episode of the forthcoming Peacock programme.
It seems probable that each episode of Johnson’s upcoming anthology series Poker Face will focus on a separate case, following the standard procedural formula of introducing, investigating, and solving crimes. The next series will be the first time the director of Knives Out has written for television since his 2014 project with Gordon-Levitt, HitRecord on TV. Last year, it was revealed that Peacock had ordered 10 episodes of the series. Adding to the already impressive roster are Chlo Sevigny, Dascha Polanco, Lil Rel Howery, Stephanie Hsu, Benjamin Bratt, David Castaeda, Ellen Barkin, Audrey Corsa, and Danielle MacDonald, Lil Rel Howery, Niall Cunningham, Nicholas Cirillo, and Simon Helberg.
The cast is growing with the inclusion of major personalities, all of whom have extensive experience in television. Both Perlman and Nelson have featured in several TV shows, with the former having done so in series as varied as Reprisal, The Capture, and Final Space, and the latter in shows as varied as Watchmen and Klondike. Paradise Lost, Graves, and Luck all featured Nolte in lead roles. Melton, on the other hand, is widely recognised as Riverdale’s Reggie Mantle. And Johnson, together with Ram Bergman, Nena Rodriguez, and Natasha Lyonne, will serve as executive producers for the next series, which he also created and will write.
The TV show starring the Peacock will be co-executive produced by Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens. Link Entertainment and Gersh represent Perlman, CAA represents Nolte, CAA and 111 Media represent Melton, while UTA, Gateway Management Company, and Bloom Hergott Diemer represent Nelson. There is no confirmed premiere date for the new season, but at this point, fans fully anticipate further cast additions.
