This autumn, for the first time ever, fans of the iconic ’80s film The Lost Boys will be able to watch the film in amazing new clarity on 4k Ultra HD. Warner Home Entertainment will release the 4K Blu-ray on September 20 for $24.99. Fans will be able to purchase a 4K Blu-ray combo pack that includes both the physical disc and a digital copy of the film to watch at their leisure. The combination set includes the director’s commentary from the late Joel Schumacher, giving viewers even more insight into the picture.
The Blu-ray release will include bonus materials that have already been made available online, such as “The Lost Boys: A Retrospective,” which analyses the film’s legacy. The Blu-ray disc of the combo set comes with extras including “Inside the Vampire’s Cave,” “Vamping Out: The Undead Creations of Greg Cannom,” “The Return of Sam and the Frog Brothers,” “The Lost Scenes,” and the film’s original trailer.
However, many viewers will be pleased to know that the film is now part of their HDR collection, even if the new release doesn’t include any additional supplementary material.
Success with audiences and critics alike led to the production of two follow-ups to 1987’s The Lost Boys: 2008’s Lost Boys: The Tribe and 2010’s Lost Boys: The Thirst. The film is still widely recognised as one of the best in the vampire genre, and it is often credited with creating the contemporary conception of the vampire as a young man or woman.
The Lost Boys has been given a 4K Ultra HD makeover, giving viewers a chance to see the iconic vampire film in a manner they never have before. Beginning September 20th, The Lost Boys may be purchased in 4K Ultra HD.
