There was a void left in the hearts of The Morning Show viewers after the second season’s conclusion. The Apple+ show’s two seasons have given us laughs and genuine investment in the characters while tackling serious issues like power abuse and sexual assault as well as COVID and cancel culture. New character dynamics and the addition of Jon Hamm to the cast have been discussed by star Reese Witherspoon, but the storyline of Season 3 remains strictly under wraps. The show follows the hosts of the eponymous morning talk show as they balance their personal and professional lives. Witherspoon co-hosts the show as Bradley Jackson, and Jennifer Aniston plays the main host, Alex Levy.
Billy Crudup portrays UBA network CEO, Cory Ellison. Cory’s declaration of love for Bradley served as a crucial plot point in the second season finale. Without revealing too much, Witherspoon told Deadline that Season 3 is “very exciting.” When asked about the attraction between them, she remarked, I get the impression that they trust each other. Maybe this or that took place. Even I am often left wondering, “Has something transpired [between them]?” to the author. and her reaction was “Hmmm, I guess something did happen.”
Cory has some competition this year, and it’s not just Bradley. According to the Legally Blonde star, the addition of Hamm to the ensemble as media billionaire Paul Marks is only going to make things more difficult for Cory. The former Mad Men star plays “a really sophisticated role,” she says, adding humorously, “it’s Alien vs. Predator.” As he elaborated, “He’s a media magnate and he gives Billy Crudup a run for his money, which I think is the most fun part because Billy could eat a scene as I’ve never seen anyone eat a scene, and Hamm gets to come in and give him a fantastic counterpoint.”
Season 2 was intense because it so closely mirrored the environment at the time. Art imitates life here, as Alex not only had to cope with the pandemic but also with the death of her former co-host and disgraced romantic interest Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell), and nearly had her show cancelled after their romance was uncovered. Witherspoon reacted to the show’s depiction of the issue, saying, “by the end of this season pretty much everybody was terminated. So, the question “Can you cancel a human?” was effectively put on hold. Simply said, we’re all human. It’s unclear what unexplored ideas the programme will introduce. The release date for Season 3 has not been decided.
