Two more cast members have been unveiled for the forthcoming AMC psychological thriller, Invitation to a Bonfire. “heavily recurring parts” have been announced for Jamie Neumann (Lovecraft Country) and Amy Darton (Sleeping Beauty). The first episode of the show will air on AMC sometime in 2019. The deadline was the 1st to break the casting news, & they also announced that Emmy-nominated director Cherien Dabis (Only Murders In The Building) will helm episodes one and two of the upcoming six-part series.
Freya Mavor plays Zoya, a young Russian immigrant in the 1930s who works as a groundskeeper at the Donne School in New Jersey, and the series is based on the 2018 psychological thriller novel of the same name by Adrienne Celt, which was inspired by the co-dependent marriage of author Vladimir Nabokov and Vera Nabokov. It has been announced that Ngozi Anyanwu would also be included in the show. Neumann is playing Nadine, a lady from the countryside who now works at the Donne School, one of the new characters.
Nadine, a former student at the boarding school who grew up in the Appalachian region and attended on a scholarship, is a mystery to the present students. Daphne, portrayed by Darton, is the “undisputed queen” of the school because of her wealthy upbringing. Daphne may be able to control the female students at her school, but she doesn’t have much authority herself. Maslany will not only feature in the show but also serve as an executive producer alongside Robin Schwartz and Kyle Laursen.
Carolyn Daucher is joining the team as a producer. Neumann has previously guest starred on Lovecraft Country, The Deuce, and Atlanta. Sleeping Beauty and Invisible both include Darton. Dabis has worked on shows including Ozark on Netflix and fellow Hulu comedy Ramy, for which he received a nomination for Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series. However, AMC has not yet announced when exactly next year’s instalment of Invitation to a Bonfire would premiere. As for what Maslany will be up to next, on August 17 you can catch her in Disney+’s upcoming legal drama She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
