It’s official: Lucy Liu will be a part of Netflix’s limited series “A Man in Full.” Cast, Release Date & Synopsis Details

Lucy Liu, a huge celebrity in Hollywood, has hardly been away from television before she’s preparing to make her comeback. The Kill Bill and Charlie’s Angels star will be joining the cast of A Man in Full, a Netflix limited series that was ordered by the streaming service in a slate of six one-hour episodes back in November, as reported exclusively by Variety. The show will focus on a wealthy real estate developer who suddenly goes bankrupt, and the individuals who try to take advantage of his situation. Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom), who plays the lead role of Charlie Croker and has won two Emmys, will be joined by Liu in the cast.

According to the show’s premise, no matter how chaotic things get, Croker will not give up on his business. This implies he will be unrelentingly nasty, unpleasant, and obnoxious to whoever is plotting his doom. Joyce Newman, portrayed by Liu, is the creator of a thriving clean beauty company who experiences a moral crisis, which is bad for business and is guaranteed to enrage her coworkers. Liu is a TV veteran with recurring appearances in several popular shows, including CBS’s Pearl, the critically acclaimed court drama Ally McBeal, and Southland.

Her longest TV role was as Joan Watson, the companion of Sherlock Holmes (Johnny Lee Miller), in the mystery series Elementary. Recent film roles for Liu include Stage Mother and the forthcoming DC/Warner Bros. superhero film Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The film A Man in Full is based on Tom Wolfe’s best-selling novel of the same name, published in 1998. David E. Kelley, who has won eleven Emmys, adapts the narrative for television and also serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer.

In the past, Kelley has turned novels into hit series like Big Little Lies and Big Sky, and she has also developed critically lauded shows like Boston Legal and Doogie Howser. Regina King (One Night in Miami…), who is collaborating with Kelley on the A Man in Full adaptation, is set to helm the pilot, the second episode, and the third episode. Diane Lane (Y: The Last Man), William Jackson Harper (The Good Place), Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), Sarah Jones (For All Mankind), Jon Michael Hill (Elementary), and Chanté Adams will also be in A Man in Full with Liu and Daniels (A League of Their Own).

There are still many unanswered questions about Netflix’s upcoming A Man in Full, including who will play the lead roles, who will direct, and when we may expect to see the film.
