In the most recent episode of The Boys, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) made quite a stir with his controversial character. The Boys helped the long-dead figure, who had been imprisoned in Russia, escape early in the season. After that, he proceeded on a killing spree, tracking out his former teammates in Payback one by one to punish them for betraying him. Soldier Boy, who would let nothing stand in his way, caused the deaths of many Supes and civilians.
Despite Vought’s early attempts to cover up the hero’s involvement, the company finally conceded that Soldier Boy posed a significant threat to the public. Vought International’s Twitter (which fans of The Boys should definitely follow) published a snippet from one of the Supes’ earlier movies today. They’re taking matters into their own hands by including a content warning in the teaser, alerting viewers of their intention to reinstate the disgraced superhero’s previously removed functionality from the Vought++ library.
In addition to the trigger warning, viewer discretion is urged notice is displayed, indicating that only those who are emotionally prepared for the content should continue. Red Thunder is the name of the movie in question, and it features the made-up figure fighting the Soviet Union’s military. To rescue his lover and fellow team Payback member Crimson Countess (Laurie Holden) and his protégé Gunpowder, Soldier Boy is abducted by the enemy and taken into captivity (Sean Patrick Flannery).
We will not give away the ending but be assured that Soldier Boy trades barbs with the Soviet captain before being rescued by two other members of Payback. The third season of The Boys on Prime Video premiered in June. It had eight new episodes. The season’s overall plotline centred on Soldier Boy, but viewers also followed along as Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), Butcher (Karl Urban), and Hughie (Jack Quaid) all dealt with challenges related to their abilities. Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), the son of Becca Butcher (Shantel VanSanten) and Homelander (Antony Starr) returned to his psychotic father after Butcher placed a strain on their relationship, leaving several plot threads unresolved.
We also witnessed the return of Soldier Boy to the cryogenic chamber, suggesting that future audiences will once again be treated to the sight of America’s hero. There is still no set premiere date for Season 4, however, Urban did say that production will kick off in late August. Starr recently announced on Instagram that he and co-star Chace Crawford will be flying to an unknown location to begin filming the fourth instalment.
