You’ll probably enjoy Power if you enjoy high-stakes dramas that include ethically ambiguous relatives who add a lot to the tale. As a result of its popularity, Starz renewed the programme from 2014 to 2020. Starz has made its own universe in which to set subsequent seasons of the original programme, and they are now exploring making that universe even bigger. A London-set spinoff of the original programme has been mooted, joining Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book II: Ghost, and Power Book IV: Force, as reported by Deadline.
Starz’s President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby was approached with this idea, however she declined to provide a response. Busby explained that the network’s support for the Power franchise stems from the series’ capacity to evolve while still generating compelling narrative threads: What we enjoy most about Power is the opportunity to spin it off, and we have done so effectively. However, I am not at liberty to address any questions along those lines. Which, in principle, is something we want to repeat. I’m so glad you’re picking up on it.
Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), whose father, James St. Patrick called Ghost (Omari Hardwick), was killed, is the protagonist of Power Book II: Ghost, a direct sequel to the first film. Fans still worry if Ghost will ever return to the series itself, despite the series’ numerous spinoffs’ popularity. Busby was asked how likely it was that he would come back. That optimism is shared by many, Busby added. She then said, “But…Ghost died.” Even if Ghost doesn’t come back, which seems likely at the time, Tariq and his mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) continue their narrative in Power Book II: Ghost.
Tasha is trying to get out of jail after being framed for her husband’s death. She later frames Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), which causes him to escape and sends her into witness protection, paving the way for another spinoff, Power Book IV: Force. Tommy is using pure force to conquer Chicago and plant his flag there. Power Book III: Raising Kanan is the other Power spinoff, and it follows the young Kanan Stark (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson), one of Ghost’s antagonists in the original series, through his formative years in an alternate universe. On August 14, a new season will premiere after a teaser and announcement were issued.
