To judge by their theories, MCU actors are just as invested in the Avengers as we are. Both Kamala Khan (Ms Marvel) and Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) have recently addressed the events of Avengers: Endgame in their respective media outlets (Chris Evans). Walters is more concerned with Cap’s private life than with his location, despite the fact that characters like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier have previously speculated that Cap is “on the moon.” New footage shows Walters chatting with her relative Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Walters remarks, “Steve Rogers did not have a girlfriend when he went into the service,” referencing the (fictional) History Channel.
Then, with much enthusiasm, she begins to detail his whole life, as she and we know it because of Banner’s revelations. At the end of the conversation, she says, “Obviously, Captain America was a virgin!” Before Banner can answer, an extraterrestrial ship appears directly in front of their automobile, and Walters loses control while swerving to avoid it, causing a collision. The crash’s aftermath has been hinted at in the previews so far. After being ambushed by mobsters and saved by Banner with a blood transfusion, Walters gains her abilities in certain comic book stories.
In light of this mishap, though, her backstory appears to have been tweaked slightly in the MCU. With her impending promotion to head of the firm’s new “superhuman legal branch,” it’s only logical that Walters would be interested in learning more about the Avengers. A billboard released at San Diego Comic-Con with a phone number for fans to contact solidified her interest in the Avengers.
It leads them to an audio tape in which Walters records a message for her company, in which she discusses, among other things, the destruction of New York City by the Avengers, Thor’s callous disregard for private property, and the development of Ultron. Now that Daredevil, Abomination, and Wong are part of the She-Hulk team, it will be exciting to watch what fresh fan theories and references make the cut, given the show’s comical tone and Marvel’s tendency to give a nod to fan culture. On August 18th, Disney+ will premiere She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
