It has been a while since we heard anything about the impending 11th season of FX and Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology series, American Horror Story, and the show remains as mysterious as ever. Since the show’s inception more than a decade ago with “Murder House,” viewers have endured mounting suspense each year until Murphy discloses the show’s upcoming season’s central topic. Even while we don’t know for sure who will be there, we do have a good idea of who will be on the call sheet, with a slew of familiar personalities returning and some fresh faces joining the fun. Following a long absence since Seasons 1 and 2, Zachary Quinto returns back to frighten viewers together with Billie Lourd, who has starred in the most recent seasons (7, 8, and 9).
Lourd previously collaborated with Murphy on Scream Queens, which starred fellow AHS alum, Emma Roberts, before joining the cast of American Horror Story. Stars from Seasons 10 and 3, Isaac Powell and Patti LuPone, will return for the next season. Sandra Bernhard, Joe Mantello, and Charlie Carver are among the newcomers who have signed on for mysterious roles. Bernhard is well-known for her stand-up comedy career, but she is probably most well-known for her portrayal of Roseanne in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Murphy’s new project Pose, set in the New York ballroom scene of the ’90s, has her as a co-star.
Fans of Murphy’s Hollywood and The Normal Heart will know Mantello, who is a Broadway legend thanks to his participation in several blockbusters as directors, such as Wicked, Assassins (2004), and 9 to 5 (2009). Carver got his start on the ABC to show Desperate Housewives and then joined the cast of Teen Wolf on MTV. Carver is another Murphy collaborator who has been on a show with Sarah Paulson. Paulson has been removed from the most recent call sheet, which will be immediately noticeable to veteran viewers (or even casual ones).
Paulson has made guest appearances in nine of the previous 10 seasons. It seems as though the phenomenally gifted actor is taking a break from the anthology series for the time being, but we can always hope for her return. As we’ve already reported, according to Murphy’s form, the plot is being kept under wraps. The multitalented artist frequently provides clues about the direction his work is taking, leading his fans to speculate about what they can expect next. Production has apparently begun in Manhattan’s West Village and judging by the costumes, the time period is somewhere between the 1970s and the 1980s. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess!
