Joy for Jim Henson devotees! Thirteen shows from The Jim Henson Company’s collection will be made available for streaming and home video via Shout! Factory, as reported by Deadline. As part of the new agreement, Shout! The factory will have the exclusive right to distribute Farscape, Farscape: The Peacekeeper, The Storyteller, The Storyteller: Greek Myths, Jim Henson’s World of Puppetry, Monster Maker, Lighthouse Island, Living with Dinosaurs, Dog City, Ghost of Faffner Hall, The Fearing Mind, Mopatop’s Shop, and Brats of the Lost Nebula around the world.
Vice President of Global Distribution at The Jim Henson Company Kerry Novick commented on the change, saying: When it comes to attracting new viewers & satisfying your most dedicated ones, “FAST Channels” are where it’s at. Shout! The factory is a leading studio in the industry; by collaborating, Henson fans can look forward to seeing classics like The Storyteller and being introduced to brand new works. We can’t wait for the Farscape launch on AVOD so that fans all across the world may join John Crichton and the crew of Moya on their return to new territory.
Similar to broadcast television, FAST channels are available in a streaming format. FAST channels are a free, ad-supported alternative to subscription-based video streaming services. Roku and Tubi are two well-known examples. For example, The Carol Burnett Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and The Lone Ranger are just some of the many great shows now being shown on Shoutservice, !’s Shout! Factory TV. The home video market for Shout! is robust, with multiple DVD and Blu-ray releases of popular cult films and television series. “The Jim Henson Company has produced some of the most acclaimed television programmes in the last several decades,” said Jeffrey Peisch, senior vice president of programming and new business development at Shout. “We are humbled and energised to be given the opportunity to make Henson programming available to the widest possible audience.”
The arrangement appears to place a premium on expanding access to Farscape, a science fiction television series that first aired in 1999. Even though you may buy this series, there is presently no way to view it for free in the United States. Shout! will change that. Jim Henson was a legendary puppeteer and television producer who was responsible for iconic shows including The Muppets, Sesame Street, and Fraggle Rock. Although Jim Henson passed away in 1990, his legacy lives on through The Jim Henson Company and its world-famous Creature Shop, which has provided puppeteers and mechanical effects for countless productions. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on Netflix, Disney+’s Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, and Apple TV+’s Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock are all recent Jim Henson works. Brian Henson, Jim’s son and the chairman of the firm, is also a puppeteer.
