The dino-sized Extended Edition of Jurassic World: Dominion is coming to Digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray next week. Universal went all out for the home release of Jurassic World: Dominion, including an extended version of the film with 14 minutes of new material and an alternate opening, as well as a slew of new bonus features, such as a look at the film’s visual effects in a feature-length documentary directed by franchise director Colin Trevorrow, footage from the last night of filming, and several new behind-the-scenes featurettes. It’s the first sequel in the Jurassic Park series to reunite the original trio and the conclusion of the Jurassic World remake trilogy.
Jurassic World Dominion is set a few years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and it follows our protagonists as they seek to readjust to life in a world where dinosaurs are commonplace. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) recruits old friends Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) to bring down In-Gen competitor Bio-syn from the inside after she discovers that Bio-syn is utilising John Hammond’s research for evil. Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), the adopted daughter of Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), is being targeted because her adoptive parents think she is the first human clone. In spite of mixed reviews, this summer’s Jurassic World: Dominion was a financial smash, grossing over $900 million throughout the world.
The home video release next week will feature an extra 14 minutes of material, increasing the overall running duration to 2 hours and 40 minutes. Bonus features like “A New Breed of VFX” with VFX Supervisor David Vickery, “Giga-Bite,” which details the film’s new dino, the Giganotosaurus, and “Final Night,” which features emotional footage from the cast and crew’s last night on set, allow you to delve deeper into the making of Jurassic World: Dominion. Aside from the previously mentioned returning cast members, Jurassic World: Dominion also stars DeWanda Wise, Omar Sy, Dichen Lachman, Campbell Scott, Mamoudou Athie, and BD Wong. The script was written by Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael, and he also serves as the film’s director. On August 16, you can buy Jurassic World: Dominion on digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray.
