It would appear that if it bleeds, it can win big on Hulu. 20th Century Studios’ newest action thriller, Prey, is the latest instalment in the legendary Predator franchise, and it has the most Hulu views of any film or television series premiere to date. In Prey, the fifth instalment in the mainline Predator film series, a young Comanche woman called Naru (played by Amber Midthunder) battles up against the technologically sophisticated alien hunter in an effort to survive and defend the people she loves.
In addition to this landmark, the film also set a record for the most viewed film premiere on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star name in all other countries, with over a million hours being logged in the first three days of its release. There have been a lot of people who have seen it, and the critical and audience reception has been excellent as well; in fact, the film currently holds the highest rating among the Predator films on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 92% approval rating, ahead of the original 1987 film, which holds the second-highest rating, at 80% approval.
Original film star Jesse Ventura was among the many professionals who complimented the movie, calling it “thoughtful, imaginative, and great.” Midthunder is joined in Prey by newcomer Dakota Beavers, as well as Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope, with Dane DiLiegro as the legendary Predator. Filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg worked from a screenplay by Patrick Aison, which was in turn based on their collaborative screenplay. John Davis, Jhane Myers, and Marty Ewing are the producers, with Lawrence Gordon, Ben Rosenblatt, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Marc Toberoff as executive producers. Now you can watch Prey on Hulu in the United States, Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ in all other regions where Star is available.
