Apple TV+ hosted a For Your Consideration event for the epic series Severance as the cast and crew gathered in advance of the show’s 14 Emmy nominations. The Hollywood Reporter took advantage of the situation by doing an interview with the cast and crew to learn more about the strange and eerie work they had produced and their plans for season two. The staff at Lumon Industries is looking forward to Season 2 and has high expectations for a number of potential new hires. Ben Stiller, the series’ director, recently told THR, “For me, there are a bunch.” Whenever I hear the name Christopher Guest, I think, “Wow, it would be fantastic if he might be a part of the programme.'”
A guest has appeared in several mockumentaries and roles as Nigel Tufnel, but he is most remembered for his work on This Is Spinal Tap. Stiller hopes that Guest will appear on the programme as a guest star, saying, “It’s nice when you have a show like this where it allows for somebody to maybe come in for an episode or two but still fit into the universe of Severance.” The most significant request, however, comes from Severance’s inventor, Dan Erickson, and is arguably the most important one. His top choice for a dream casting role is former President Barack Obama, and he has a strategy to enlist his participation.
Obama, who was just nominated for an Emmy for providing his silky voice to Our Great National Parks, is expected to attend this year’s Primetime Emmys, giving Erickson an ideal opportunity to invite him to stop by Lumon Industries. “If he is [there], I’m going to see if he wants a role on this programme,” he remarked when questioned about the possibility of him appearing in the show. “He’d offer some gravitas and I think that would be great,” she said. Seeing Obama in a dystopian, ultra-corporate society would be amusing, but his cinema has primarily been produced via his and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground banner.
Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus, and Christopher Walken are just a few of the talented actors in Severance. If that makes you feel any better, Tullock is completely on board with having Barbra Streisand, star of the musical Funny Girl, join the cast. “If we could get [Barbra] Streisand to come over, I’d pretty much give you every American dime I’ve got in my bank account,” she said. As a result of its original idea, its bleak representation and critique of the modern work life, and its great cast—led by Scott—Severance became a surprise smash at the box office last year.
In this dystopian science fiction series, Mark Scout (Scott) is the team leader for a group of Lumon Industries workers who have been subjected to the groundbreaking new severance treatment, which deletes all traces of the worker’s professional past from his or her personal memory. Working there longer, Mark begins to unravel a network of schemes that point to a deeper reality. When the first season ended in April, the show was renewed for a second. Not much is known about when Season 2 of Severance will premiere, although the show’s success has likely increased the likelihood of appearances by notable actors.
