The forthcoming psychological thriller Resurrection, starring Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth, has an exclusive clip that was released today by IFC Films. The film follows a single mother who manages to raise her kid and keep her life together. When someone from her past resurfaces, though, pandemonium ensues.
This exclusive film shows how the slightest mention of David’s (Roth) presence sends Margaret’s (Hall) life into alert mode. Who is this man, & what did he do to her in the past, what are the crucial questions? The scene emphasises the grimy photography of Resurrection, which hints that the thriller is about to adopt horror movie feelings and visuals as the protagonist Margaret panics about a lurking menace. One of the initial casualties appears to be the mother-daughter bond, as the latter is caught aback by her mother’s unexpected response to a seemingly innocuous request. The clip also shows Rebecca Hall’s disturbed (and scary) act, which makes us question what the heck this man symbolises and makes us fear for her safety.
In films like The Awakening and The Night House, the actor established herself as a prominent player in horror and psychological thrillers; now, she appears to be gearing up for another career-best performance. A decade after the release of Andrew Semans’ directorial debut, Nancy, Please, comes the follow-up, Resurrection, for which he also wrote the screenplay. Semans’s first feature, Nancy, Please, was well received, and his upcoming film, which will have its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, is already being called a must-see. On July 29th, see the debut of Resurrection in cinemas near you. The psychological thriller will have it’s On Demand premiere the following week, on August 5. In November, Shudder will become the only streaming platform to offer the film.
An Official Synopsis
The 2022 Sundance Film Festival saw the global premiere of “Resurrection,” the sophomore feature film by writer-director Andrew Seman. Successful and organised, Margaret (Rebecca Hall) manages to raise her fiercely independent daughter Abbie as a single mom without sacrificing either her profession or her sanity. No need to worry; everything is under control. But that delicate equilibrium is thrown off when Margaret’s dreadful history resurfaces in the form of David (Tim Roth), an unwanted shadow from her past. Margaret, whose anxiety levels are mounting, must face the monster she has avoided for twenty years so that they may settle their unfinished business.
