Season 4 production of Sex Education, a Netflix original series, has commenced following minor cast changes. Asa Butterfield, the show’s star, took to Twitter to break the news, tweeting a picture of himself in front of the trailers with the comment “Guess who’s back.” Alistair Petrie, one of his co-stars, replied with a picture of himself in the same spot with the comment “Give us a hint.” Sex Education focuses on Otis Milburn (Butterfield), a socially awkward adolescent whose mother Jean (Gillian Anderson) is a sex therapist. Otis forms a sex therapy clinic with fellow student Maeve (Emma Mackey) after mistakenly giving sex advice to a classmate.
In the most current season of the show, however, someone else has taken over the clinic and is dispensing false information. Hope (Jemima Kirke), Moordale Secondary’s newly appointed principal, intended to improve the school’s reputation by instituting many reforms. A lot was left for Otis and the group to deal with at the end of Season 3, and they’ll have to deal with it all in Season 4. The fact that Moordale Secondary School is closed and its children have nowhere to go to school is the primary concern.
At the end of Season 3, Hope was let go from her teaching position, and the school was sold to developers, forcing the students to look elsewhere for their education. Maeve, a student who took advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study in the United States, seems to be oblivious to the turmoil. Those hoping Otis and Maeve would get together were disappointed to see them part ways (for now). In the meanwhile, despite some terrifying problems, Jean successfully delivered her baby! When Jean revealed the shocking news that Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt) is not the father, everyone was taken aback.
Though there is little information available regarding the narrative of Season 4, fans may count on the continuation of several main strands from Season 3. Some of the regulars won’t be returning for the upcoming season, either. Patricia Allison (Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Rakhee Thakrar (Emily Sands), and Simone Ashley (Olivia) will no longer be appearing in the series as a result of individual and collective decisions. Although no casting announcements have been made, new cast members are likely to appear in the future season. Ncuti Gatwa’s return to the character of Eric was just announced, joining that of Butterfield and Petrie.
Mackey, Anderson, Connor Swindells, Aimee Lou Wood, and Kedar Williams-Stirling are among the other cast members who are likely to return. Writer/creator/executive producer Laurie Nunn is returning for Season 4. The premiere date for Season 4 of Sex Education has not been set. Episodes 1–3 are available to watch right now on Netflix.
