Season 2 of Gangs of London seems like it may have a significant increase in the death toll. Elliot Finch (p Drsù) is shown in a new photograph published by Empire engaged in some high-octane action surrounded by broken glass and revealing the aforementioned corpse count. The Season 2 teaser clip also hinted at a rising fight for control of London between the different criminal gangs. Like the image, the teaser confirms that new director Corin Hardy, who is taking over directing responsibilities from Gareth Evans, who brought us an action-packed Season 1, will give us everything we want from Season 2 of the series.
This season’s blood splatters and Hardy’s creative approach were the subjects of a lengthy interview with Empire. Blood, he remarked, “is such a vital colour to utilise when painting the canvas of action. When you first see it, you get this strong emotion. In films like The Nun and To Hallow, he has established himself as a master of the jump scare. Gangs of London, on the other hand, go the extra mile when it comes to violence. A lot of blood was spilt, and Finn Wallace’s son Sean Wallace died in the ensuing chaos when his father, London’s most powerful criminal, was assassinated in season one.
Elliot Finch, an undercover cop who has been infiltrating the Wallace group, has been there for all of this. For Season 2, Elliot has been abandoned by both Wallaces and the police. He is now forced to work for the Investor, a new gang leader who has been given the mission of reinstating order in the city. Speaking of Hardy’s action scenes, This stuff takes a long time to create; you have to prepare and choreograph it and then plot it and pre-visualize it before shooting it with stuntmen and actors and editing it all together to see what you’ve created. That was the moment when I realised that I’d gone too far, and I sat back and watched it happen. While a launch date for Season 2 of Gangs of London has not been announced, it is expected to air this year.
Synopsis
The topography and spirit of London have been rewritten one year after the death of Sean Wallace and the terrible reckonings of season one. Former undercover detective Elliot Finch is now obliged to work for the Investors because the Wallaces and Dumanis are no longer together. The Investors decide that enough is enough and bring in troops to restore order to a city that is spiralling out of control. There is a backlash from both old and new actors, leading long-standing adversaries into cooperation and family members to betray one another. Will one side prevail in this war for London’s very soul?
