The New Netflix thriller I Came By has unveiled its debut trailer, which promises horror as it dives into the mysteries of a well-known judge. BAFTA-winning director of the 2016 horror picture Under the Shadow Babak Anvari made his directorial comeback with a political thriller about a wealthy guy who is hiding something horrible. Downton Abbey veteran Hugh Bonneville and 1917 breakthrough sensation George MacKay feature in I Came By. Toby (MacKay) and Jay (Percelle Ascott) are two London street social activists and graffiti painters who often vandalise the mansions of England’s richest individuals.
The horrifying “darkest secret” of Hector Blake (Bonneville), a well-respected former High Court Judge, is discovered beneath Toby’s basement when he chooses to go after him. Toby’s life, as well as the lives of those closest to him, is soon in jeopardy as a result of the incident. At first, it appears as though Bonneville’s character is putting on a nice show by hosting a public hearing in support of refugees; yet, in the teaser, we hear him say: “I did my best to be compassionate, but I couldn’t stop myself from exploding with wrath. It felt amazing. Interested in learning more about what transpired last night?”
There is a good chance that the future film will have a lot of suspenseful moments and lots of jump scares, as well as some of the darkest secrets ever revealed. In the film’s official synopsis, it is said that: “The most sinister truths are kept hidden under the veil of privilege. A teenage graffiti artist (George Mackay) and those closest to him are lured into a fatal game of cat and mouse after discovering the horrific secret of a renowned judge (Hugh Bonneville).” Mr Brown in the Paddington series and Bernie in Notting Hill are two of Bonneville’s best-known performances. However, MacKay has been in other thriller films, such as Nuclear and Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories, opposite Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Marrowbone) (Last Night in Soho).
I Came By’s director is also recognised for making horror thrillers. Also, he won the BAFTA for Best Debut Feature Film by a British Director, Producer, or Writer. As a result, we should expect nothing but a nail-biting thriller from the filmmaker. It also features Kelly MacDonald (Line of Duty), Varada Sethu (“Jurassic World Dominion”), Gabriel Bisset-Smith (“McDonald & Dodds”), Antonio Aakeel (“Slow Horses”), Kitty Lovett (“Rillington Place”), Micky McGregor (“Vera”), and Michelle Thomas (“The Lazarus Project”) (Trigger Point).
In the film’s teaser, Netflix says it will be available on August 31.
