Since filming on HBO’s The Last of Us came to an end, fans have been anxiously awaiting any new information on Pedro Pascal’s character Joel and Bella Ramsey’s character Ellie. Based on Naughty Dog’s enormously successful video game and with a committed fan base, HBO took up the series and dubbed it the largest Canadian production ever. Ramsey recently spoke with SheKnows on the difficult process of bringing the popular narrative to life and how it will explore “new pathways” from the games. In the year 2013 The US has been decimated by the Cordyceps brain illness in The Last of Us, which takes place in a post-apocalyptic environment.
While Ellie is being transported out of the quarantine zone, Joel is escorting her out of harm’s way. To create a vaccine, Ellie’s immunity to the virus can be of use. According to Ramsey, “I think people are going to appreciate [the adaptation]” when heading such a well-known series. Of course, there were many who were alarmed. It’s only natural to be concerned about the adaptation of something that holds such sentimental value for you as a spectator or a player. However, I believe it will be well received.
It will follow a similar emotional arc to the games, but there will be some fresh areas that even long-time fans will be surprised by. She stated You can tell that this is done with great reverence and appreciation for the game since it closely follows its emotional rhythms. Fresh life is brought to it by the live-action series adaption. In the game, it didn’t go as far as it should have.” To no one’s surprise, Uncharted, Sony’s earlier attempt at a video game-based film, starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, was a flop. The film made $401.7 million worldwide on a $120 million budget, however, it was heavily panned by fans. “I really feel people are going to adore it,” Ramsey says of the show’s upcoming premiere. They should. Incredibly enjoyable to put together. When [audiences] join us on this journey, I hope they have the same experience.”
The series also features Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Joel’s younger brother and a former soldier, along with Pascal and Ramsey. Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and Jeffrey Pierce, the game’s original voice actors, will all appear.
Sony Pictures, PlayStation, Naughty Dog, The Mighty Mint, and Word Games are all involved in the series development and production. Season 1 of The Last of Us will premiere in early 2023, according to expectations.
