Historical pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death, on HBO Max, has a loyal following that has been waiting for news of Stede Bonnet’s (Rhys Darby) return in the impending second season. The season 2 premiere script teaser has been revealed by the show’s creator and writer, David Jenkins. A snapshot of the cover page of the first episode’s screenplay was shared on Jenkins’ official Twitter account. There isn’t a lot to take away from this image, as Jenkins decided to remove the episode’s name from it.
Only the programme name, episode number, and Jenkins’ credit appear. The more intriguing part of the picture was his caption, which might indicate substantial changes in the second season of the series. The caption says: “Are there any willing participants? Just because it’s already occurring.” The comedy series Our Flag Means Death, set in the Golden Age of Piracy and partly based on the life of Gentleman Pirate Stede Bonnet, is set in this period of time.
The Revenge, the ship of Captain Barbossa Bonnet and his unusual crew, encounters several notable people of the historical period, including Edward Teach aka Blackbeard, played by Taika Waititi, as they sail across the Caribbean. Additionally, Waititi serves as an executive producer on Our Flag Means Death with Jenkins, Garrett Basch, and Dan Halsted as executive producers. Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Matt Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill, David Fane, Rory Kinnear, Samba Schutte, Nat Faxon, Fred Armisen, and Leslie Jones round out the series cast, which also features Darby and Waititi.
There’s no word yet from HBO Max on which of the supporting cast members will be returning for Season 2, but we do know that Guz Khan, who portrayed Blackbeard’s crewman Ivan before, will not be. Despite the fact that the second season of Our Flag Means Death has yet to be announced, you can still watch the first season on HBO Max.
