Paramount+ has renewed iCarly for a third season on the streaming service, which is great news for iCarly fans. It felt inevitable that the show would return to explore these two characters’ uneasy connection and see where it may go next after Season 2’s cliffhanger left their fates in the balance. The program’s sustained success with a new generation also appeared to confirm this. The event was finished off with a new teaser starring Drake and Josh Josh Peck promoting the life-changing news of the renewal. A release date for Season 3 has been scheduled for sometime in 2023, with production beginning later this year.
In 2021, a new season of the hit Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly premiered on the streamer, starting up where the previous one left off.
An older cast has reunited to bring back the online show that began it all, much like the first series did. Every day, the gang faces challenges and encounters the absurdities of becoming a household name on the internet. Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove), the program’s protagonist, is now the solo host of her online show, with her former co-host Sam (Jeanette McCurdy) gone on her own journey. Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress), the show’s executive producer, is also back in Carly’s life. Carly and Freddie’s romance was hinted at in Season 2 when Freddie’s girlfriend accused him of being in love with her.
Rebooting a popular television programme has never been easier, thanks in large part to the show’s ability to adapt its comedy and storyline to fit the current internet landscape while maintaining the original’s overall tone and humour style.
Jaidyn Triplett’s Laci Mosley and Jerry Trainor’s Spencer have also welcomed additions to the ensemble, which also included Carly’s brother Spencer. “Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of streaming for Paramount+, remarked that “iCarly’s passionate fan base grew up with Carly, Spencer, and Freddie and have now fallen in love with Harper and Millicent as well.” Miranda, Jerry, Nathan, Laci and Jaidyn are returning for a third season, and we know the burgeoning YA audience at Paramount+ is happy to have them back. And as for #Creddie, I gotta know what happens next!” As executive producers, Ali Schouten-Seeks (Young & Hungry, Diary of a Future President) and Cosgrove worked with Nickelodeon Studios to create the show for Paramount+.
Trainor, Kress, and Alissa Vradenburg are among the series’ individual producers (The Simple Life). Dan Schneider developed the original iCarly on Nickelodeon. Next year, in 2023, we’ll see the return of iCarly for its third season. To watch the first two seasons in their entirety, visit Paramount+.
