The year 2022 will see a slew of classic films mark significant anniversaries. One of cinema’s greatest characters, James Bond, is included here. As Dr No approaches its 60th anniversary this year, MGM has gone all out to commemorate the debut of the infamous 00 agents on the big screen. In addition, there is a new steel book version of Dr No on Blu-ray.
Dr No’s opening sequence’s title card is replicated in a box set packaging that resembles Dr No’s opening sequence’s title card. Similarly, the steelbook contains two large red dots that wrap throughout the whole piece.
As a result of its relationship with the first time fans heard that memorable musical theme, this is a basic yet effective design. However, if you’re a Bond fan, you’ve undoubtedly got a few Dr Nos about the house already. The extras that are included in this steelbook make it stand out from previous releases. The original theatrical poster, a new 32-page booklet, four lobby card reproductions with envelopes, and a buildable board figure of the iconic dragon tank from the film are all included in this new steelbook edition.
Also included are audio commentary from director Terence Young and star Sean Connery, various “Making of” featurettes, theatrical trailers for the picture, and a documentary titled Inside Dr No, which chronicles the making of the film. It’s true that Dr No isn’t the most well-known Bond film, and it certainly isn’t the most anticipated, but it is responsible for introducing audiences to the world of James Bond. Because of its smaller scale and one central location, it’s really a more refreshing trip than the more popular flicks in the franchise like From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Goldeneye, or Casino Royale. SPECTRE was initially introduced to the public in this film, even if it was merely in the form of a nameless villain.
The arrival of Dr No, who continues to be one of the most memorable villains in film history, in the last act of this film also makes it stand out. Bond’s debut scene, the villain’s scary entrance, or Connery’s outstanding performance are just a few of the iconic moments that served as inspiration for countless other memorable 007 adventures to come. No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s final outing in the role, made Bond probably more popular than he has ever been following the release of the 25th film. It’s a terrific opportunity for fans to revisit the series’ beginnings in 1962 with this new steelbook. A pre-order for Dr No’s 60th-anniversary steelbook is now available for $37, with a publication date of October 2022. Just in time for James Bond Day on October 5, the film’s official anniversary date. While we eagerly await the announcement of the new 007, you can pre-order the Dr No steelbook on the official James Bond website.
