Reboots and reimaginings abound in today’s television and film industries. Whether it’s Rob Zombie’s fresh take on The Munsters or Gail Lerner’s Cheaper by the Dozen or even HBO and Gary Alazraki’s Father of the Bride, modernising classic stories is all the rage right now.
Modern Family creator Steven Levitan teamed up with Hulu to present audiences with a humorous and fictitious look at the behind-the-scenes process of relaunching a fan-favourite series. The first look at what seems like a hilarious comedy with a star-studded ensemble of some of the game’s most recognisable characters arrives today. The colourful and chaotic lives of the original actors of a cancelled 2000s family comedy will be the centre of Reboot.
In spite of their joy at being able to produce again, they will now have to deal with their personal connections all over again. Key, Greer, Johnny Knoxville, Paul Reiser, Rachel Bloom, Calum Worthy and Krista Marie Yu are the stars of the series, which is helmed by Keegan-Michael Key. To begin with, we get a glimpse of the show’s inner workings: storyboards, serious talks outside of talent trailers and table reading sessions with all the important actors present. It’s clear from the photographs that Knoxville, Greer, and Key will have a fantastic on-screen rapport, as they engage with one another.
The show’s executive producer, Gordon Gelman, is also featured prominently in a few photos, as is Reiser as the actor portraying him. Additionally, Levitan serves as an executive producer alongside Danielle Stokdyk and Jeff Morton. It will be produced by Steven Levitan Productions and Twenty-First Television. Only Shoot Me!, Stark Raving Mad and Stacked are just a few of Levitan’s other critically acclaimed television programmes, which include Just Shoot Me!, Stark Raving Mad, Stacked and Back to You. The eight-episode Hulu original premieres on September 20. New episodes will be released on a weekly basis after the first two-episode run.
