AMC has announced that Krysten Ritter has joined the cast of its highly anticipated new series, Orphan Black: Echoes. The Jessica Jones star will portray Lucy, a lady with an incredible backstory who is looking for her place in the world. Like its predecessor, Orphan Black, the new series will examine the moral and ethical consequences of scientific manipulation of human existence in the near future. Four women’s lives will be entwined in an attempt to solve the riddle of their identity. The show also marks Ritter’s return to AMC, where she starred as Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad, her breakout role. An executive producer role will be added to his leading role in the show. Anna Fishko, who previously worked on Fear the Walking Dead, is the showrunner and writer for the new series.

John Fawcett, co-creator of Orphan Black, will helm the 10-episode first season of Echoes. On the formal announcement of the programme, Fawcett remarked in a statement, “Embarking on a new tale of Orphan Black with Anna, our friends at Boat Rocker and AMC could not be more thrilling.” As a follow-up, I am overjoyed to be able to share this new chapter with all of our devoted OB followers. If it weren’t for the support of our viewers, this new show would never have come to fruition. When they say “follow the wacky science,” I am giddy with anticipation! Fans of Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad and Apartment 23 will recognise Ritter from these roles. Aside from her recent roles in Netflix’s Night book and Peacock’s The Girl in the Woods, she also directed and executive produced the spooky YA series. Love and Death, starring Elizabeth Olsen, will be her next project.
