Deadline has unveiled the cast of Not Another Church Movie, a satire comedy about the church, and it’s packed with stars, including The Big Leap’s Kevin Daniels, Mickey Rourke, and Vivica A. Fox. Additionally, Kyla Pratt, Lamorne Morris, Jasmine Guy, and Tisha Campbell have joined the cast to play supporting parts (House Party). Taylor Pherry, a multi-talented man with a dazzling resume that includes work as a lawyer, doctor, food delivery driver, and plumber, will be played by Daniels in this independent film from Monty the Dog Productions veterans. To show how much He appreciates his perseverance, God assigns him the task of writing down the stories of his ancestors to serve as an inspiration to everyone around him.
First, he needs to battle the devil who stands in his way of completing his ‘holy task.’ Rourke portrays the devil who is out to keep Pherry from fulfilling his destiny. According to the summary, Not Another Church Movie is “a blend of spoof footage from numerous notable movies.” Actor Kevin Daniels has appeared in a number of comedic films and television shows, including Hollywood Homicide, Chuck, Frasier, Modern Family, and the USA sitcom Sirens.
He had a recurring role on Fox’s one-season musical comedy The Big Leap. Mickey Rourke has shown his humorous talents in Buffalo ’66 and Spun, despite his more well-known appearances in drama and horror flicks. For his performance in The Wrestler, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. Murder at Hollow Creek and Replica are among Rourke’s next projects. Johnny Mack is writing the screenplay for the film, which is due out in 2015. Mack’s writing work for The Jamie Foxx Show and the Netflix original Dad Stop Embarrassing Me have demonstrated his ability to write funny material.
