Kirby Reed, a fan favourite, is returning for Scream 6, which is expected to continue to build on the reboot film’s popularity next year. Because she was one of the few characters whose fate was left unclear, the producers were free to explore her further in a subsequent film, and now her admirers may finally get their dream. It was a dream come true for Hayden Panettiere, who portrayed Kirby in Scream 4. On Good Morning America, she discussed the excitement of returning to work on Scream, how she managed to get Kirby into the next picture, and what we should anticipate from a legacy survivor in this film.
In an interview, Panettiere recalled a phone call she had with Scream’s producers regarding a possible reunion. “So, you guys don’t happen to want to bring Kirby back, do you?” she asked them when she phoned them up, she told GMA. “I wanted to be a part of it so much,” he said. When she returns to the big screen in Scream 6, she’ll be reunited with the vibrant best friend she was in Scream 4, which will be a great moment for her. Kirby’s runtime was also brought up during the conversation by Panettiere. Since David Arquette’s beloved Dewey Riley died in the previous picture, it’s reasonable to assume that the enthusiastic Kirby will have lots of screen time. That Kirby will be the first character to die in the film was not confirmed, but she strongly hinted that she will be around for a long time. She said goodbye to GMA with this promise: “I don’t think anyone will be disappointed.”
Scream 6 will provide Kirby with a new group of friends to hang out with while he’s not in Woodsboro. Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega will reprise their roles as the film’s original living characters, according to the official synopsis. There will be numerous generations of Scream royalty represented in the film, with Courtney Cox returning as Gale Weathers.
As long as it doesn’t happen in the town where it all began, having so many survivors of Ghostface in one location isn’t healthy for anybody. Additionally, Scream 6 features the same creative team as its predecessor. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick co-wrote the screenplay with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin returning to the helm. As an executive producer, Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original Scream, is also returning. The crew hopes to carry on the heritage of Wes Craven, the master of the macabre.
On March 31, 2023, Scream 4 will premiere.
