A brand new poster for Clerks III, the third film in the series that is so emblematic of Generation X and that provides an up-close look at the benefits and drawbacks of working at a convenience store, was recently unveiled by Lionsgate. The premieres of the brand new movie are scheduled to take place in cinemas around the country as part of Fathom Events on September 13 and September 15. Randal Graves and Dante Hicks, two of the most recognisable characters from the Clerks universe created by filmmaker Kevin Smith, are featured on the new poster. The two main characters are shown in this scene standing behind their reliable counter, looking (just about) thirty years older than they did in their initial appearance in the film from 1994.
Mascot characters Jay and his companion Silent Bob, played by Smith, are standing in the background behind them. On the movie poster, there is a clever slogan that reads, “they’re too old for this shift,” which makes light of the movie and the protagonists’ respective ages. Lionsgate has not only produced a new poster for the picture, but they have also released a new teaser for the film, which provides us with a glimpse at the overdue third part of the film series.
The first few seconds of the clip show Dante and Randal, whose respective roles are portrayed by Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson, going about their daily routine. The two clerks are going about their day in a manner that is quite typical for them. They are reflecting on their lives as if they were reading a book and making analogies between their friends and characters from Star Wars (even still). That is, up until Randal suffers a heart attack and becomes incapacitated.
Randal is now much more aware of his own death, and as a result, he is striving to create something meaningful out of his life, which he views as having been far too short. In the end, Randal makes the decision to focus on the industry in which he has the greatest experience, namely cinema. Randal, Dante, & Jay & Silent Bob will embark on the production of a film that chronicles the lives of convenience store workers after being revitalised with a new sense of purpose. The third film will have some new faces in addition to the original core group, which will include Jason Mewes in the role of Jay.
Additionally, the film will bring back certain famous characters and performers from Clerks II. The teaser hints at a number of these cameo appearances, some of which include Fred Armisen, Justin Long, and Ben Affleck, among others. Kevin Smith will serve as both the film’s writer and director once again. The premieres of the brand new movie are scheduled to take place in cinemas around the country as part of Fathom Events on September 13 and September 15.
