We’ve chosen to continue reading the manga after Season 4 Part 2 of Attack on Titan because the anime is now on hiatus. We’ll be posting reviews, recaps, and responses to each of these “episodes” one chapter at a time. Review of Attack on Titan manga chapter 135, titled “The Battle of Heaven and Earth,” is up today. Only in Chapter 135 of Attack on Titan does this page contain spoilers. There are spoilers on this page if you haven’t finished watching Attack on Titan’s Season 4 Part 2.
Released the Pigs by Ymir
It begins with a trip back in time to Ymir’s childhood about 2,000 years ago. We had long believed that she was the one who let the pigs out of the gate, and it turns out she was right. In contrast to her usual appearance, her eyes are not veiled. It appears that her eyes become unshaded when she chooses freedom when she chooses rebellion.
So she wasn’t falsely accused by her own people all those years ago. In light of this, I’m wondering if she was the scapegoat or if they actually knew, but no one wanted to sacrifice an eye in order to save a child from harm. It all began with her choice to let the pigs out of the pen. As a result of the invasion of her town by the Eldian pillagers, she was forced to flee her home.
Previously, I speculated that she may still be following the Eldian King’s original orders, which were to conquer the Marleyans and then conquer the rest of the globe. That initial Eldian king Fritz’s directives to her may even be seen as the Rumbling itself. When we see her on Eren’s Founder body in the following panel, we can see her watching everything that’s going on. Did she let the pigs out of the pen because she felt sorry for them, or did she do it to set the stage for this very moment? There are a lot of pigs being crushed right now if that’s the case.
Just a Band-Aid for Zeke and Ymir May Still Have the upper hand
If Zeke was actually there and being pushed to move by Eren while hanging on a rib in last week’s instalment, I couldn’t tell. A “stand-in” for the actual Zeke turned revealed to be only a “husk” of the genuine Zeke. Ethan and the others believe Zeke has been imprisoned in a shell someplace. Because without a Jaw Titan, they couldn’t get to him and kill him. Jean knows that they have no option but to accept this. Armin concurs, saying that everyone should run and that he will morph to kill Eren if necessary. Armin, on the other hand, recognises that this is unlikely to kill Eren, but rather offers them a greater chance of finding their bodies.
Recalling Erwin, Armin knows that in some situations, you must be willing, even if it means sacrificing those you care about, to prevail. So, he must do this, even if it means killing his pals. When a strange Titan with a tentacle-like tongue captures Armin and plugs his lips, preventing him from speaking or biting down to morph, his independence is rapidly taken from him. If only he had Annie’s ring at this very moment. Ymir appears to be watching all of this, and he may even be in charge of it.
The End of the World as We Know It
Onyankopon’s jet has crashed at Fort Salta, but his family has rushed to his aid. As Annie’s father screams at him about her daughter, he falls to the ground. Honestly, it’s a bit weird and a little humorous. Do you know what the man who is unconscious and hurt will say? With their remaining cannons, the troops will try to aid Armin, Levi, Jean, Mikasa and the rest of the group. Even though it won’t be much help, the troops will do their best.
There’s Something Wrong With This Chapter
Mappa is going to have a difficult time depicting the events of this chapter in an episode, but I almost feel sorry for him. After Titan, Titan, Titan, Eren/Ymir has the capacity to construct yet another Titan. Some of them are attached to Eren’s ribs, while others are free to roam around. They’re Ymir’s (or Eren’s) mindless henchmen. They’re not being stupid, but they’re also not acting like pure Titans. According to Jean, “They’re waiting for an opportunity and attacking in unison” Even Levi concedes that the situation is so awful that even if he were in top physical condition, he would be unable to face them all head-on.
If Levi doesn’t think he can take them on, this is a severe situation. As though he’s made some kind of connection, Pieck adds his two cents. There are “nine Titans from across the centuries” that they are witnessing, she said. All the humans who have ever possessed the nine titanic powers. For the most part, “The Founding Titan can probably restore them.”
It’s beyond belief. Totally insane.
They don’t seem to be in charge of their own brains, as she said. They may, however, be revived time and time again, resulting in an unending conflict that can never be resolved. Seeing an opportunity, Pieck takes the explosives and heads straight for Eren’s nape. Despite her assertions to the contrary, she insists that she was never friends with Eren. They want someone who will not hesitate to take action when it is called for. I’m amazed no one else has gotten to this point yet.
However, despite her best efforts, she is unable to ignite the bomb once it is around his neck. Prior to her ability to respond, she is slashed by the Warhammer. It’s like a Checkhov’s gun with the detonator simply hanging out there. Is anything going to happen? Then a reanimated Porco Galliard attacks Reiner. It is enough to know that they are not in control of their own brains based on this evidence. Ymir/Eren has total power over these mindless warriors. Because of this, they are battling competently but not exceptionally well.) My honest opinion is that if they had their own thoughts and wits about them, they’d be better warriors.”
Levi and the others decide to journey to Eren’s butt (haha) in order to save Armin for whatever reason. It appears that no one is going to assist Pieck, which is a grave oversight on the part of everyone involved. Armin learns that the Founder, Ymir, is rejecting them and sending the Titans after them, not Eren, as he fights to stay alive. As Armin begins to suspect, “if Eren is merely doing what he said he would do, then this opposition is Ymir’s will.” “In other words, the Founder intends to exterminate the whole human race.” However, it’s a wake-up call. Eren’s decisions cannot be taken away from him. Eren’s goal is to wipe out all life on Earth. In contrast, founder Ymir maintains the same philosophy and is actively working on his behalf.
That Ymir is indestructible, Armin tells himself. They have no recourse
That’s when a bizarre panel appears, depicting Bertholdt sobbing from one eye while seeing Armin in the mirror. As soon as Armin woke up from his dream in which he saw the face of a sobbing Colossal, it reminded him of the dream.
Eren isn’t destroyed when Bertholdt transforms into his Titan form. Armin’s Colossal form isn’t nearly as powerful as an independent-minded, non-reanimated Armin would be because he’s working for the Founder. Bertholdt appears to float as he grabs Reiner and attempts to bite him in half in his reanimated state. For the 1st time, it has been shown that the Titans revived by Ymir are mindless automatons. It’s also the case that they aren’t given the same degree of independence that Eren seeks for at least some people.
Although it’s difficult to tell, Reiner appears to be rescued at the last second from being devoured by the creature.
During the struggle, Conny is knocked unconscious and a new Jaw Titan form attempts to consume him. And Levi appears to be coughing up blood as a result of his exhaustion in this fight. Jean and Reiner see that their equipment for navigating is broken. The tired Levi manages to save Connie, but he falls and Conny picks him up, rescuing him.
There is just one left: Mikasa. Forced them to come after her, as she did at Trost when she thought Eren was dead. A confident “I’m strong!!” is all she can muster up.
Wings may be seen behind her in that panel. It was at this point when Falco with wings appeared and saved the day for the team by rescuing them and taking them to safety. Last-minute saves aren’t something I’m a fan of, but we were told that Falco had been working on flying for the last week. This time, I’m cool with it. He’s accompanied by Annie and Gabbie. When Falco tells Annie that Titans can fly, Annie claims she has no choice but to come. She couldn’t let this opportunity pass her by.
That brings us to the end of this chapter. As we’ve already established, they’re not safe, and things are only going to grow worse. However, they are given a little break to regain their strength and prepare for another battle ahead.
This was a fantastic chapter. Everything about it was OUT OF THIS WORLD, especially the Founder’s skills. No, I’m not sure where Eren’s will ends and the Founder is beginning. If Zeke isn’t dead (and merely being reborn like the other Titans that were battling), then I’m not sure where he is. A lot of questions remain, but this chapter was fantastic.
