According to a new report, Nintendo may have more Legend of Zelda games in the works for 2022 in addition to the much-anticipated Breath of the Wild 2. While the original Breath of the Wild was released in 2017, its open-world setting and plenty of minigames and hidden features continue to intrigue players almost five years later. This year’s E3 2021 webcast saw Nintendo reveal that Breath Of The Wild 2 will be coming soon after its huge success and near-universal critical praise. As a result, more details regarding the planned sequel to Breath of the Wild have been limited since its teaser was released last summer, to the point that Nintendo is purportedly keeping the official title under wraps to avoid spoilers.
Last week’s February Nintendo Direct broadcast had been expected to display more of the tentatively titled BOTW 2, but this would not be the case. Nintendo might still release a new Legend Of Zelda game this year even if Breath Of The Wild 2 is postponed until 2023, according to some enthusiasts. According to Samus Hunter, a Nintendo game news leaker and insider, many Legend Of Zelda projects are under development and at least one of them will be released in 2022.
Samus Hunter did not reveal what these projects are, but they did confirm that Breath of the Wild 2 will ship in late 2022, as previously stated. BotW 2’s delay would be announced in either April or May, as “that’s normally the period for the next FY estimate,” according to their statement. The last several years have been a busy and exciting period for the Legend of Zelda series, aside from the upcoming release of Breath of the Wild 2.
Some fans were disappointed by the absence of new games and announcements for the 35th-anniversary celebration in 2021, although Nintendo did release a Switch port of 2011’s The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword and an exclusive Legend Of Zelda Game & Watch system to celebrate the milestone. As part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack in October, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask were both re-released, as well as portable Zelda spin-offs including Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. In the absence of official confirmation, fans should treat these speculations and Samus Hunter’s assertions that numerous Legend of Zelda games are now in production for release later in the year with caution. Even if this leak turns out to be false, gamers can expect a slew of Zelda-related releases in 2019, in addition to the already announced Breath Of The Wild 2.
