Losing Ark has already eclipsed Grand Theft Auto V’s top audience statistics on Twitch, according to TwitchTracker data This achievement is all the more impressive in light of the fact that Amazon Games’ MMORPG has yet to go live fully. The Early Access phase for Lost Ark, which began on February 8th, has been a great success thus far.
At its peak, there were 532,476 concurrent users on Steam playing Lost Ark during its Early Access phase.
The hype surrounding The Raiders of the Lost Ark is understandable, given the film’s enormous cult following in South Korea. Developed by Tripod Studio and Smilegate, the isometric experience was published in 2019 and received an enthusiastic response from gamers. Amazon Games and Smilegate had previously intended to release the game late last year, however, Lost Ark’s update at the 2021 Game Awards indicated an early 2022 release date for the platformer.
The fact that new information about the MMORPG keeps surfacing implies that the somewhat longer wait was well worth it. There have already been more than 1.27 million people who have watched Lost Ark’s peak Twitch viewing. The massively multiplayer title is now ranked at #13 on the list of the most popular Twitch games. Thus, it’s just ahead of Cyberpunk 2077 and Grand Theft Auto 5, which drew 1.14 million people to the popular streaming platform at their highest points, respectively.
Rust, a survival game, had a viewership peak of 1.37 million, just one more than Lost Ark. Another Amazon Games-published MMORPG, New World, also made the list with a peak audience of 977,000 viewers on the Twitch platform. It’s possible that Lost Ark’s strong start on Twitch may help the game when its free-to-play version launches later this week.
A major accomplishment is the fact that it’s already outpacing games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Grand Theft Auto V in terms of popularity. Of course, it’s still unclear how the MMO’s current success will translate to the PC platform in the future. Lost Ark utilises an isometric camera angle, like Diablo from Blizzard Entertainment and Path of Exile from Grinding Gear Games. In this respect, it differs significantly from Amazon Games’ other popular MMORPG, New World, which peaked at number one on the Steam charts upon its release in September 2021 and remains there to this day. If Amazon’s recent successes are any indication, it’s going to be intriguing to watch where the company settles in the interactive sector in the near future.
