Teamfight Tactics’ Double Up has been made permanent by Riot Games. Riot Games’ first product, League of Legends, is featured as a playable character in TFT, which was released in 2019. Riot’s other online card game, Legends of Runeterra, has a lot of League of Legends characters in it as well.
Teamfight Tactics will apparently receive its first unit from Riot’s Netflix show Arcane, the crime leader Silco, in the midseason update. TFT games may be queued up as a pair, and the two players would work together to win. Players can help their allies by sending them things and units, as well as bringing reinforcements to their side if they win their own battle early.
A new spin on TFT’s free-for-all gameplay can be found in these revisions. Since early November’s patch 11.23, players have been able to try out the beta version of this new game mode. For Teamfight Tactics, Riot Games announced today that Double Up is being made permanent. Originally, it was planned to remove the game from servers for a period of time while the developers worked on finalising it for release.
However, the game mode proved to be so popular that it no longer made sense to remove it from the client for a few updates. Even if that wasn’t what they had hoped for, Riot had contemplated that possibility and was prepared for it.
Riot’s announcement outlines the company’s future plans for TFT Double Up. Riot wants to make a few last tweaks to the game mode before it’s released, so it’s not quite finished just yet.
If things go well, they plan to take their time preparing for the final 10% of the game and apply modifications gradually in order to maintain stability in the live version of the game. Some of Riot’s plans for Double Up have been revealed, and they include a new ranking system and a new way for players who don’t use in-game voice chat to connect. Good news for Double-Up gamers, but also for anyone who plays any of Riot’s other games.
The corporation sometimes receives a lot of criticism from the community, but this update and their recent removal of the Chemtech Drake from League of Legends indicate that they listen to what people want and at least try to make adjustments accordingly. Teamfight Tactics’ new game mode, Double Up, may not be ready for prime time just yet, but it’s exciting to know what the future holds and an extra bonus that it’s still accessible to play.
