Dragonite has been added to the rooster in the free-to-play Pokémon Unite, and the All-Round combatant already looks like a terrific addition. When the free-to-play multiplayer online combat arena game was first revealed, it received the most number of dislikes ever recorded on The Pokémon Company’s Youtube page. However, Pokémon Unite has been downloaded by over 50 million people since its release on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. Season 2 has begun with the introduction of a new battle pass, which includes new missions and skins for Pokémon Unite players to use in Ranked and Unranked online 5v5 battles.
As with previous MOBAs, Pokémon Unite provides players with a squad of five heroes that steadily improve in strength and abilities as they fight online opponents. Players command their Pokémon teams as they attack or defend a variety of control points scattered around the game’s area. At the conclusion of the match, the side with the most points earned from claiming the most control points wins. When Pokémon Unite premiered in July 2021, it offered 20 unique characters with a variety of classes, powers, and playstyles that allowed players to build the ideal squad for online competition.
On December 19th, longtime Pokémon players will be able to play as one of their favorite Generation 1 Dragon-types, Dragonite. The Dragon Pokémon, a fan favorite, was featured on the Pokémon Unite’s Twitter with a move set demonstrating the new playable character’s ranged and All-Rounder playstyle. Players will be able to purchase the character using either in-game currency acquired through gameplay or real-world money to expeditiously access the character. Dragonite will be the 29th playable Pokémon, following the newly announced Tsareena’s December 9th release.
The formidable Dragonite was teased in conjunction with the upcoming seasonal event, The Pokémon Unite Holiday Event, which will kick off on December 15th. The event is expected to introduce new challenges and cosmetic items for both Pokémon and player avatars. To better celebrate the holidays, the game’s arena will be altered to reflect a more snow-covered Christmas motif. New players can take advantage of the Holiday Event’s challenges and benefits to level up their characters and unlock cosmetics far faster than they would normally be able to without the Holiday Event’s challenges and perks.
Pokémon Unite is the franchise’s latest spin-off, and fans have more to look forward to. The franchise is one of Nintendo’s crown jewels, and the fact that over 120 Pokémon games have been created demonstrates that the adoration has never waned. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were recently released as remakes of the game franchise. The big release of the open-world Pokémon Legends: Arceus is just around the corner, and it seeks to take the typically linear gameplay concept in a new direction. With the addition of fresh content and benefits to Pokémon Unite and future Pokémon games, fans will continue to have a variety of Pokémon to enjoy across several platforms.
