While Honor of Kings may be unfamiliar to gamers in the United States, the MOBA has been a lareg hit in China since its release in 2015. In fact, the game’s publisher, Tencent, just reported that the game had more than 100 million daily users! However, while the original title will not be released outside of the region for the foreseeable future, developer TiMi Studio has revealed a spin-off that will be available on a variety of platforms globally.
Since the last game, Honor of Kings: World will not be a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), but rather an open-world title with enormous monster confrontations and some intriguing creature designs. In addition, writer Liu Cixin (The Three-Body Problem) will contribute to the creation of the game’s setting.
The game Honor of Kings may not be well-known to many people outside of China, but the developer TiMi Studio has been developing a name for itself outside of the country in recent months. The creator is responsible for the game Pokemon Unite, which has become a moderately successful hit all around the world.
TiMi Studio has definitely demonstrated a talent for developing games in the MOBA genre, and it will be intriguing to watch how the studio approaches the creation of an open-world game. As fickle as gamers can be, predicting which games will be a smash and which ones will fall flat on their faces is not always easy. Despite the fact that many gamers in the United States disregarded MiHoYo’s Genshin Impact before to its release, the game has had tremendous popularity over the previous year.
Even though it’s possible that Honor of Kings: World will end up in a similar predicament, it appears to be a fair bet that the game will be a huge hit in its home country at the very least.
